DD, the US scored on break away plays. How many of those do you get in a game. Brazil just owned the zone in the second half, and kept pushing and pressuring. The US played great defense I thought, Brazil's offense was just better.
Well of course Sam......but on defense we were attacking their feet, and not giving them space. And typically you show your lack of class...again.... D
Oh please. You are talking to one of the World best soccer team in the World. Their ball movements were just too much for team USA so that's why they were on their heels. It's was partially luck that got team USA this far.
No luck, they earned their way here....and up 2-0.....they stopped pressuring the ball....and lost their shape on D...way too much space.... I don't think the US played great D in the 2nd half, I thought they started watching and not pressuring and gave Brazil too much space to operate. DD
What Bradley is saying is one of the biggest problems.....he says that giving up the first goal put the US in a tough spot? How? You are winning the match...... DD
Well, no not really the Italian type. I am more of a pressure-style aswell, but you need to understand something in the context. When your team is up 2-0, you can't send all your boys to the front. Sure, its tempting, because you think okay lets put a goal really quickly and it will be a sure victory, but on the other hand, you have to watch out because if you pressurize, your going to create space between the lines and holes for the other team to come in. So its not a question of style, you DON'T HAVE THE CHOICE. Furthermore, your players, and we see this today, are worn out at the end of the game if you don't stop pressing consistently. IMO, pressurizing is the way to go, but not in all situations, and certainly not against a team like Brazil who is waaaaay better offensively and waaay better one on one. Too many times did we see a brazilian just dribble pass an american and therefore the US couldn't afford to press all the time or there two defensive lines would have been dissolved, and it would have been 10-2. Not sure if you understand what i'm trying to say, i'm not used to discuss soccer in english.
Translation: I play a lot of FIFA 09 on my XBOX 360 - on the *highest* difficulty setting, on which I have beaten Brasil with the USA *countless* times - accordingly I am bringing all my experience to bear.
Or, I had season tickets at Old Trafford when I lived in the UK, and played it and coached it my entire life. And, yes, I do play Fifa Sam.....great game. DD
That was a legendary second half by Brazil. USA's defense was brilliant, but you can't stop an attack like that, no matter how disciplined your defense is.
You still don't get it DD? Brazil is a superior team. Why did you think they came back and won the game? They broke down the US defense and took control in the US zone. USA were on their freaking heels.
Ok, where did I say move everyone up front? Show me the post please? I am mainly talking about the team not pressuring the ball and back peddling.....I understand counter attack futbol, but in the first half, watch the defense pressuring the Brazilian players, and then watch the 2nd half and watch how much space our defense allowed to Brazil. And I would like to see Altidore coming back and helping a bit more ..ala Davies.... Tim Howard makes Everton proud...but we still need work and guys that can create on and off the ball. Too much standing around, especially Altidore, got to move to open spaces.... DD
No, not lies, I lived in Manchester, in Cheadle, and worked at Warthog on a game called Starlancer (feel free to look it up BRAH!), our company had season tickets at Old Trafford I have seen TONS of matches there. But if you want to call it lies...feel free..... This is true...I do coach that now... DD
I agree, that is my point, the US played like cowards, and stopped attacking their feet. You and I agree...they were on their heels, and you don't beat quaility teams by playing that way... Thank you for agreeing. I think Brazil played great.....I am mainly talking about the USA, and how they cowered instead of continuing to play aggressively.....they shrunk in a big moment...and if you are going to do anything on the world stage, you need to play with confidence. DD
Altidore needs to really improve his energy. Hopefully this creates more excitement for USA youth, that's really the only way USA can improve. Brazil is just too talented to beat.
