    The Confederations Cup is here.

Here are the groups (and their FIFA rankings):

    Group A
    Spain - 1
    South Africa - 72
    Iraq - 77
    New Zealand - 82

    Group B
    Italy - 4
    Brazil - 5
    USA - 14
    Egypt - 40

The tournament got underway earlier today with a 0-0 tie between Iraq and South Africa. Spain currently leads New Zealand 4-0 at halftime.

The United States opens up play against Italy tomorrow at 1:30 PM.

All games are on ESPN or ESPN2 and every game is in HD.

Tomorrow's game against Italy is at 1:30 on ESPNHD.

    ESPN360 is also an option.

Spain is playing New Zealand now on ESPN2 up 5-0. Spain is just ridiculously stacked. I don't see anybody stopping them.

Looking forward to the USA game too.

I wish USA was playing Iraq. The only way we play each other is in the semifinals I don't think were making it out of Group play.

Maybe if they put us in the same group.

    Political awesomeness.

How and why did they choose these specific teams?

The 6 winners of the different confederations plus the defending World Cup winners (Italy) and the host country (South Africa).

Spain vs. New Zealand just finished.

ITs 5 - 0, a real thrashing, Torres I think had 3 goals. I hope we see Brazil - Spain, that'll be a great match... I don't think there is a better team than Spain right now. I really like Torres/Villa/Farbegras/Iniesta/Xavi/Ramos, some of the best young talent out there.....

Think they could have split up the groups a little better. Spain is going to roll through those 3 teams. They have no reason to use starters until they have to face what should be one of Brazil, Italy, or the USA in the semis. Also, the winner of group B, in theory, has a cake walk to the finals, playing what ever crap team finishes less worse than the other 3. I'm expecting the USA to lose to Brazil, tie Italy (again) and beat Egypt. May or may not be enough as you have to figure Brazil and Italy will both beat Egypt.

Egypt will beat either Brasil or Italy. BOOK IT. I am expecting US to shed the bad image of the CONCACAF to the rest of the world. I want to see a good showing.

Schedule in SPANISH, should be the same time for the ESPN network:

Copa Confederaciones 2009 - Cadena de Univisión
Lunes 15 de junio, 9:00 AM Centro Brasil vs. Egipto Galavisión
Lunes 15 de junio 1:30 PM Centro Estados Unidos vs. Italia TeleFutura
Miércoles 17 de junio 9:00 AM Centro España vs. Irak Galavisión
Miércoles 17 de junio 1:30 PM Centro Sudáfrica vs. Nueva Zelanda Galavisión
Jueves 18 de junio 9:00 AM Centro Brasil vs. Estados Unidos TeleFutura
Jueves 18 de junio 1:30 PM Centro Egipto vs. Italia Galavisión
Sábado 20 de junio 1:30 PM Centro España vs. Sudáfrica Univision
Sábado 20 de junio 1:30 PM Centro Irak vs. Nueva Zelanda TeleFutura
Domingo 21 de junio 1:30 PM Centro Italia vs. Brasil Univision
Domingo 21 de junio 1:30 PM Centro Egipto vs. Estados Unidos TeleFutura

    :( Why so pessimistic?

I still say it doesn't matter who you play in the BEGINNING or THE END, play to WIN IT ALL regardless of whom you play.
