This should set USA up for an even bigger disappointment when they get "upset" in the World Cup.

For the guy who doesn't understand soccer rules very well, does that mean that only Bradley misses the game, or does the US play a man down?

Once again, who f***ing cares? We know that this was a huge upset. Amazing how you're trying to turn this thread into something about you...

I hoped and prayed for a US win. Logically, there was no reason to predict one. Spain is a great team...possibly the best in the world right now...and we just beat them 2-0.

You are fairly harsh on the USA team......saying they don't show up in tournaments, yet here they are in the finals after having beaten the number 1 team in the world.

Come on now...this is BIG for US soccer.

Can the mods please change the green cards of Leroy and Swoly to yellow to caution them against derailing this thread.

DaDakota, what's been harsh? Please point it out... and then read my very first post in this thread.

    Couple of thoughts...

If Ricardo Clark hasn't solidified his spot for 2010, I don't know what else he has to do. I was very down on him with some of his performances earlier this year. He has really proven he belongs in that defensive center mid position.

The back 4 of Spector, Onyewu, DeMerit, and Bocanegra should be the starting four from here on out.

I'm very proud of Landon Donovan. He has played amazingly well. I wish he would see what could be if he were to go to Europe. The best US player should not still be playing in the MLS.

Connor Casey needs to not be on this team. Unfortunately, there is no one else for the final, so he'll probably see minutes again.

Who starts for Bradley? I'd assume Feilhaber. Could mean that Adu or Torres finally gets off the bench in the final.

That is absolutely correct, sir, and I stand by it. This was like the U.S.'s championship game, and Spain underestimated them. Too bad for Spain. Great for the U.S.!

Still, I support what I said in my first statement of having USA shed the bad image... and of not showing up in tournaments. They're doing it now. I know it doesn't top 2002's achievement.

What's harsh about expecting more of them?

I'm still in a state of shock over the game. We were under constant pressure but withstood it and got the result.

We haven't given up a goal while he's been on the field. I prefer to have a midfielder out there that can really disrupt a teams attacks and help solidify the middle of defense.

I'm thinking Feilhaber starts also, he and Clark play well together in the middle so I'm not too concerned about missing Bradley. I'm not holding out much hope of Adu or Torres playing any, hopefully they'll get their chance in the Gold Cup.

Great game! I was watching at our media headquarters with the staff of our newspaper and we were going nuts. What's great is that us in the younger generation have grown up with soccer exposure and consider it to be a great game. People that instantly dismiss it are becoming the minority.

Wins like this and our run in 2002 have helped propel soccer into the US consciousness. A strong showing in 2010 will be fantastic, of course couple with a win in the Confederations Cup ;)

This is so true. The entire world would hate us for it, and it would be hilarious.

Too bad for Clark that Jermaine Jones will be taking his spot as soon as he's eligible for the US.

I would hate it. I won't lie, as much as I follow and for the most part root for the US team, I do not want them to win the WC. Not like there's anything to worry about(get in line behind Mexico,Spain,Holland) but yeah, it would suck for non-Americans in my opinion.

And that is what would make it that much sweeter.
