Sengun needs to stop the little leave behind pass on pick and rolls. He did 3 times versus Atlanta, two of which were immediate turnovers. Little things like that will improve in time. He is fine. Give it time.
I don’t have an issue with usage rate. Right now it is wait and see how he develops and how he plays. He needs to improve on offense to compensate for his defense. First things on the list are a reliable shot and cutting down tos and tightening his handle. he could have contributed with his passing but it is not the way Silas will go. Honestly I don’t think he is a good coach at all, both for player development and team basketball.
we’ll see how the team ends up looking as the year goes on with Silas in charge…it’s a young and dumb team, so things will often not be pretty I liked how they fought and kept it competitive against Atlanta on opening night…last year, they lost game 1 to the Wolves by 18, but trailed by as much as 35 another good test against Memphis tonight…I will be in the building to watch them up close and personal
Being a little petty here but I found those stats in less than a minute using a simple google search (NBA Advanced Stats). If there are some stats out there that have Sengun behind Jokic and Embiid they aren't as "simple to look up" as that so depending on the source, I'm not sure that I'd trust them. My point is, I can name 5 players off the top of my head I believe are better than him in the post and the stats seem to bear that out. Joel Embiid Nikola Jokic Anthony Davis Lebron James Karl-Anthony Towns Hell after last night, I might even throw John Collins in there . Sengun is good and what's scary is that he's going to get better, but top 3 post player in the entire league... c'mon.
How does Silas prevent Sengun from contributing via passing. Bruno in the same game had 7 assists from passing. Did Silas tell Sengun he can't pass?
Anthony Davis posts up?? All I ever see is him floating around the perimeter taking horrible long twos. If he goes inside he's gonna be injured for sure.
I think Sengun should not start until he learn to play with a faster pace and slow down the turnovers BUT, this guy is a DOUBLE-DOUBLE every night. The guy is taller and bigger and can shoot the 3s
Everyone else seems to be developing just fine. So Silas is not good bc Sengun is the same player he was last year? Seems like Sengun is the only having problems with things, like fit
I don’t understand this. Green and KPJ had bad games, so did they develop in this short one game sample?
JGreen and KPJ are going to have lots of bad games, tired legs, bad decisions, lower fg percentages but Jabari is the real victim of Alpi demotion.Forget ROY candidacy. Unlucky boy.
KPJ wasn’t bad, he was a mixed bag. Look how good of a shooter he now and his TOs are still too high, but much better than before. Jalen is better defensively, shot looks better, and his handles are way better! He had an off game.. Sengun is the same guy as last season. He FTs have improved so far if you include the preseason, but that’s it.
I read it more as we've seen over the course of the preseason and even in last nights game some growth from the guards. Evidence that they've been working on their games. I mean, I don't cringe as much when KPJ runs the PNR because of that the little free thrown line jumper he appears to have been working on. Whereas I haven't seem as much growth from Alpi. Now if he keeps taking (having confidence in) and hitting that 3pt shot at an effective clip, that to me shows growth.
I am sure they will much better than last year, though that might not be reflected in the overall win record. However, I am not sure how much of it can be attributed to Silas. Wood is gone, and we added Bari and Tari. KPJ, Green, KMJ, improved over the summer. Sengun looks better. So improvement is sure there. The weakness of Silas is easier in the second unit. when there isn't enough talent and there is no coaching, it just looks horrible out there. Enjoy the game!
So sounds like excuse for KPJ and Green. Sengun had a better DRating than both and better ORating than Green. Guess what’s good for the goose isn’t for the gander
I could see that. That’s not what the Spurs fan is saying, he’s a Sengun only hater. Even still, preseason and the way it was played isn’t an indicator of what was worked on. Outside of the first game preseason was a shitshow.
Bruno played all his 25 minutes with KPJ, Green and Jabari. Certainly that helps and he did great. Sengun did not get one minute of that. 6 minutes with porter and green together. He played 10 minutes jc and 4 minutes with Gordon as the guard, none of them can run plays with Sengun. This is one factor but what I had meant in my post was Sengun is not used as passing to the cutters. This does not seem to be part of the play book, getting Sengun the ball facing the basket and see what he can create.
They’ve added to their game! Sengun hasn’t added anything. Idk if the 3ball is real yet, but I give him credit if it is. KPJ and Green have improved a lot. There’s a reason they’re the face of this franchise and leaders.
Green is the face. KPJ is a lotto ticket. But since we’re making assumptions off one game, where have KPJ and Green improved? Alp was better than them by most advanced metrics
