Also here's him next to Whiteside (who's even leaning a bit) who's supposed to be 7ft. Theres no way Sengun is really 6'11.
that was a year ago, who knows if sengun has grown. not like its improbable for a 19 yr old now 20 yr old to get taller.
Different players bring different things to the table. When Wood was here, he did not play good interior defense but his perimeter defense was very good. He was averaging a double double. And yes, I thought Wood was a good player but he was playing out of position. He's not a starting 5, he's a 4, which is where J. Kidd has him....a Starting 4 or a bench 5. I thought the Rockets passed too soon. Sengun is not bad, I just do not see him as top tier starter at the 5. Mainly, because of his size and foot speed and unfortunately, you can not play him at the 4, so his only position is the 5. I think he would be better served off the bench, if the Rockets were to draft a center in next yrs draft. Reason being, Sengun is more effective with the ball in his hands and with KPJ doing as well as he is with Green, I don't see them letting KPJ go.
But he was listed as 6’11 last year too, wasn’t he? Point is the height is not totally reliable. It never has been. Sengun appears on the smallish side, but he can make up for it with strength, skill, and smarts. I see no reason not to start him at center and see how it goes. Fernando is available if more size or rim protection is needed for a given matchup.
Right now we need a center. Pining for cwood over sengun ain't it. We need interior d. Like u said cwood interior d blows and we drafted Smith. Cwood isn't needed anymore I think we still need time b4 coming to your conclusion that he's not a top tier starter at the 5. We are at the bottom, I think there's nothing to lose having sengun as our center. If he's as bad as some of the folks paint we will b in the wemby sweepstake
The thing is that everyone’s height went up! That includes guys like Tate and EG. It’s so dumb that people believe this dude is 6’11”. Our entire team miraculously grew, okay lol
Sengun was listed at 206 cm by the Turkish national team for fiba this summer, he's 6'9.1 inches barefooot, so 6'9 flat, and that's obvious when seeing him stand amongst other player. Case closed.
Facts!! But these Sengun fans wanna say he’s 6’11” when he’s way smaller than other bigs lol. But hey, I’m a hater for telling the truth
He was listed as 6'11 by the Rockets this pre season. This is what happened, he's 6'9 barefoot, and he came in wearing shoes with thick soles that make him 1.5 inches taller (a normal size 15+ basketball shoe will do that), they measure him at 6'10.5 in shoes, in the NBA when a player is measured at .5 or higher it's rounded up to the nearest inch, so he then gets rounded up to 6'11. That's how a 6'9 guy gets listed at 6'11. NBA said it was supposed to change the rules 2 years ago to ONLY list barefoot heights, but the measurements are taken by teams in the pre-season with no official standards, so they still do whatever they want depending on the team and the year. Team fanboys want Green to really be 6'6 and Sengun to really be 6'11 so they act like Stevie Wonder and point to the "official" Rocket-measured heights.
Facts man!!! Green and KPJ are not 6’6” haha both of them are like between 6’4” and 6’5”. They’re like barely taller than Silas
I thought Sengun was 6’11, but based on the pics that have been posted, 6’9 is far more accurate Sengun fans will try to give him an extra inch or 2 or claim that he probably grew in the offseason, but your honor, where’s the evidence?
Seems to me that all NBA players' listed heights have to be taken with a grain of salt. I stood next to Baron Davis two days ago, and if that guy is 6'3, then I'm 6'10.
seems like almost everyone on the roster magically grew in the offseason going by what’s posted on NBA.com from mid-twenties Tate and Matthews on down
