I guarantee you didn’t have a standing 37.5 inch vertical. That is a flat out lie. That would be top 5 all time, regardless of sport
Based on what exactly? He started 13 games, played 30 mpg in those starts, and averaged 5 fouls/36 in those games. He had at least 4 fouls in 11 of those 13 starts. So it was “bullsh*t” based on what?
Of those 11 games that he had 4 fouls or more, he was not used to his full extent in only one game, the mavericks game. Last 5 games he started, he averaged 3.6 fouls on more than 32 minutes a game. So I don't know what the correct terminology would be but he is certainly improving and those numbers are not terrible considering this is his first year. Just cutting on the lazy fouls would be more than enough. It is not like he is prone to fouling because he has bad positioning, moves unnecessarily on D etc.
What does KPJ have to do with anything? one guy averaged 31 mpg, the other 21 mpg… excluding the games he fouled out, Sengun had 9 other games where he had at least 4 fouls in under 20 minutes…if I make it under 24 minutes, it’s even higher…if Silas kept him out there, he would’ve fouled out in double digit games, and that is facts
No, speculation. People start being more careful once they have 4, 5 fouls. It's not linear. Also, when they know they will get more minutes, they are more careful.
it got a bit better in the last 5 games of the season, but it seems very disingenuous to act like his fouling issue was BS like that other poster was trying to claim it was his 1st year like u said, so it can certainly be improved, and I hope it is because at times Sengun was fouling anything breathing
he averaged 5 fouls/36 as a starter playing 30 mpg…So where was all that carefulness? if someone is racking up 4 or 5 fouls in under 20 minutes that much, they clearly don’t know how to be more careful and I’m still wondering why u randomly brought up KPJ, a guy who averaged 10 more mpg
He should foul less, not disputing that. But a lot of that were ticky tack rookie calls, too. And he pretty much knew he was hardly going to get 36 minutes, ever. He also always tried hard to defend. Something that cannot be said about others. I bet Wood had fewer fouls per 36...but he was pretty much a traffic cone on defense.
Go look at the NFL combine verticals. Many guys jumped higher than that so it’s not even close to top 5 all time. You’ve definitely never played sports lol
of course he knew was hardly going to get 36 minutes…boy would’ve been fouled out or been on the verge of fouling out by then there was no change in Sengun’s foul tendencies whether he was on the bench playing 20 minutes, or a starter playing 30…he was fouling anything with legs that was breathing He did, but Idc about Wood, and I don’t see why KPJ fouling out 1 more time than Sengun while averaging a lot more minutes matters.
When I look at Sengun, I see a player that was never suppose to be a starter in year 2 - so in my book, he's way ahead of schedule and is impressive more than anything.
That looked real good. A lot of positives: - His pnr defense was very good, I did not see him get lost on d. - 25 minutes 3 fouls - 2 blocks, 1 steal - 5 assists(with 1 terrible miss by garuba taking away the 6th). Considering his usage, this is an amazing stat. - Hit his 3 pts. Here for me the important thing is that he took them without hesitation. That is very nice to see. His form is good As long as he keeps working on it, he is easily over 30% 3 pt shooter in his second season. Will not be surprised to see around 35%. The only negative was he could not finish well inside. 4 rebounds looks too few, but I did not notice any serious mistakes he made. We outrebounded them and he was boxing out fine.
It takes bigger players longer to adjust. Let's give him until mid - late season and see but I thought he played about average. I just wish he was bigger.
Football players do typically have higher verts, standing vert of 37.5 as a junior is just not true. That’s a flat out lie my guy. That’s what that was in reference to. Even as a 3 year player 37.5 standing vert is elite. And again, you have nothing on my athletic career as an athlete and coach
It’s definitely true. I did it multiple times at different places. I have pictures of my vert where it’s obvious how I high I got.
