Trade Howard for expirings then sign Keith Van Horn for the vet. minimum to fill the void of the "veteran scorer that plays no defense" role.
Howard is only getting paid like 6 mil a year which isn't that bad. Its not like we will ever be under the cap. Hopefully we get more than mihm.
Here is a scenario that would be too good to be true. Juwan Howard and Rafer Alston for Lamar Odom The salaries match. I know, the Lakers aren't that damn dumb....but I can dream.
www.82games.com shows that Mihm's fair value of $2.6M (on 39% of the mins) is greater than that of JuHo of $.85M (on 64% of the mins). We would have expected that, but I think it goes to the point. Battier deal pointed to a quantitative analysis, snyder deal, although a no-brainer, pointed to the same. Maybe on top of trading Howard, we step up the individual players quantitative value to the team. I'm starting to like this Moneyball approach.
Any trade done in the next 48 hours comes with your very own bonus player, Ryan Bowen, free of charge! Supplies limited! Hurry! This deal won't last!
it does make sense. not odom, that doesn't make any sense. but mihm and cook. jvg has been sayin they've been looking for a 3pt shooting 4. mihm would be deke's replacement. jho works in the triangle. also since they acquired radman, there's no need for cook. that would put kwame at center and would open up playing time for bynum. they also have a log jam at the 1. hmmm....this could get interesting.
Was Morey around when TMac was aquired or Yao was signed? My point is that we were all willing to string CD up when he did not keep Rudy Gay and when he failed to sign MJ so we might as well give him some of the credit if he assembles a good team for next season.
Well, the thing is I don't know if he's assembling it. It seems JVG is behind our whole offseason, but based on the players that we're getting and the "moneyball" statistics behind these players, Morey could have a huge influence for an assistant. I remember CD saying back in April that this guy was a genius and he's learning a lot from the youngster, and then JVG said a few days later that he's learning a lot too and he and Morey are on the same page.
When Juwan was a FA and the signed that 6 year deal with Orlando, the Lakers were reported to have offered him a 5 year deal and said to have wanted him. He picked Orlando supposedly because they offered the extra year as a player option.
So, what exactly does Mihm give us again? I don't see it. He's a backup center, the least important position on our team. Surely we can get more than this. I guess I could understand Brian Cook. But Mihm is a 5-8 mpg player at most. Still, I suppose I'd take it, since we get to ditch Juwanamama.
Did anyone really think Kelvin Cato could play PF until Van Gudy stuck him there? We'll see if Mihm can play with Yao? Also, Mihm is good insurance if Yao gets hurt since Mutombo can't enough minutes at C.
Thats true that mihm can be a insurance. But We will have thin pf unless rockets can sumhow get mihm to playpf as he plays c wit yao. Or maybe rockets can make a move for Drew Gooden. That would be very nice.
I bet you think this is too good to be true just like me, but keep coming back checking if this thread has become a sticky yet. Go to sleep now, you kids.
