I started a new thread highlighting major arguments & points from this paper...if mods choose to merge, I'm ok with it, but there is a lot of information in it.

It talks of Stern giving the Rockets either their 16th pick back or a 31st pick as 'compensation' citing Basketball Reasons.

If I understand that correctly, he is wanting the doctors(most likely Royce's and the teams) to be able to override any and all decisions the front office, coaches, owner, etc. make.

This is a scary proposition for the Rockets. It most likely gives Royce's doctors(assuming his personal included) to call the shots with all facets of Royce's career.

Im sure Morey trusts Keith Jones to act in the best interest of the organization, but If Royce's doctors are allowed to make basketball decisions that trump even Morey and Les.... That's probably just one of the issues Morey and Les have in this situation.

They can't have their hands tied behind their backs for the next two years where Royce gets to do whatever his childhood doctor thinks is best for him 24/7 at the Rockets expense.

Maybe the Royce White situation will change the #Protocol regarding draft compensation.

How do we know he doesn't have a quack for a doctor? Most psychiatrists are.

Not sure about this source, just found it on Hoopshype...
[rquoter]Miguel Angel Paniagua: Royce White's representatives will start exploring options in Europe next week. His contract would have to include a "no fly" clause.[/rquoter]
(Probably not legit though since the Rockets say they have no intention of releasing him).

    It's a no win situation.

If it were really as simple as White needing an agreement to never fly, the Rockets could mull rewriting his contract to set him up to only play games in Houston, San Antonio, Dallas, and New Orleans and prorate his salary accordingly.

But it isn't. White has made a scene about going to the D-League and even about needing guaranteed minutes (and to be a starter)...all under the veil of anxiety. If that's true, he's a time bomb that will explode as soon as a slump leads to booing or heckling. If not, he's what several suspect: a prima donna latching on to what he feels is a permanent golden ticket to get his way.

As far as I'm concerned, the Rockets can present the top scenario to Royce, his agent, and his <strike>enablers</strike> doctors. Take it or leave it. If you can't play under those conditions and accept coaching and front office authority, you simply cannot meet the requirements to be an NBA player.

Goes onto detail regarding Rockets options.

The could retain his rights while he plays overseas on a 'voided' contract.

My bet is the Rockets will either explore all trade options or suspend him without pay until he gets back to work.

He already tweeted that it includes his own doctor.

The one that he has been with all these years and has obviously cured him.

    Exactly..

He just frivolously strings together random words that he probably thinks have legal bearing. But in reality, he just sounds like a babbling buffoon.

Going over to Europe could be good for him. He will get a taste of pro life, just not on such a grand scale yet. He can improve his game there, and learn what it means to play as a pro. Hope this is true.

Royce White is a selfish person. If this whole ordeal had gone on before he signed a contract, it would be somewhat understandable. I hope we sit him and fine him until he reports to the D League.

RW: Hey doc, I'm feeling pretty blue today
Doc: Why Royce? Anxiety? What do you think you need?
RW: I think I need to start every game from now on, playing MINIMUM 35 minutes/game. Also, mind telling the Rockets to resign me to a 5 year supermax contract?
Doc: You got it bud. You're my patient!

But but the team bus doesn't even have the standard 128 air bags installed! And the seat belts aren't like the roller coaster!

The only mature thing about this guy is his NBA ready body which I would instantly transfer to Donatas Moti because he wants to play in this league more than anything.
