NBA team can hold the draft right for one player for up to 3 years right? If so Axel Hervelle who was drafted on 2005 is no longer available for Rockets?
With all the guys on the roster, Morey was gonna move someone. White just happens to be the first casualty. A win for White and a win for the Rockets. Barry seems to be next, maybe package him for a 2 for 1 deal, drafts picks, rights; still have to cut a few. I love the way Morey seems to make something out of nothing. Let's wait and see what else he has up his sleeve. Daryl "The Magician" Morey? Sounds kinda good.
i wonder if DM is eventually trying to make up roster full of international players who work hard...hmm...it would be insane if that were the case and the rockets out work all nba teams with a team made up mostly of international stars with small contracts..
No, I understand that and for the rockets it makes perfect sense. Maybe I mistyped, the transaction is more unnecessary on the nuggets' part. Why give up anything for a player that's likely to be waived in the near future? I doubt they see James White as some steal of a player - just another bench player to take a look at.
i guess they assumed that white might have had other suitors which he could've chosen to join ahead of them. by making the trade they insure that they get him. they gave up nothing really, anyway.
The Spanish League can be the Rockets's second "D-League"... Llull, Lishouk, Eliyahu, and Hervelle are all playing there.
kind of tired of seeing the rockets drafting international players who never see daylight in the nba. (malik badiane anyone???) and the one time an international player comes over to the rockets, never seen playing time, and when he did play, he sucked badly (spanoulis).
I said MOSTLY of international players not the whole roster, kinda like the spurs a couple seasons ago. We got scola, yao, andersen (ive heard hes a hard worker) and this kid from belguim. Moreys not shy about scoutin players internationally.
i didnt really see that much improvement from him...i agree he worked hard and tried, but he just doesnt seem to have either the mindset or certain mechanics that allow him to be a solid player offensively. He's all jumper and break away dunk, and the jumper isnt that great. Also, his speed always seemed spotty to me, not sure why that was..
i doubt it, i think white will have trouble sticking on any team, while, if i remember correctly, kelenna didnt fit our rotation or something like that...i think we had too many guys in his spot or needed another spot more..any other year and he would have probably stayed...plus kelenna had physical toughness that allowed him to stay on the floor even when his game wasnt on and that eventually made him more consistent, but white has almost no physical toughness, his game either has to be on or he's wont see the court. Kind of like luther...and novak...
you know the offseason is getting long when there's a three page thread on complete scrubs who will never see more than 5 MPG in the NBA
