Kind of my thoughts too, but they do have different needs....at least that is what I am telling myself to feel better about it.

Honestly, I think the Landry snafu has the Rockets hands tied.....until it is resolved, they have no choice but to sit it out.

Do you think that's good enough? Stephon played in 24 games,Barry in 31 games.

Right, it is more about different needs, the Spurs needed a back up point while the Rockets are in need of consistent bench scoring. Mason will be a decent player but I wouldn't start him over Rafer. If the Rockets where to sign Mason would also mean they gave up on Brooks after 1 season, and I still believe he has more room to develop.

Alston and Bjackson defiantly held their own against the league last season, while I wouldn't say they are the best PGs around the league the Rockets definitely have more dire needs else where.

DD summed it up pretty well, since resigning Landry is probably the highest priority on Morey's offseason to do list so we shouldn't expect any moves until that gets resolved.

Barry did play 75, 74 and 81 games in the 3 years before that. Injury is always a risk, but I am not sure if Barry is any bigger a risk than most other players.

Bottomline: For money he costs, and for what he can do, Barry's worth it.

This rockets team needs Barry's championship experience.

I agree that he is the best choice for the LLE.

I would rather have Mo Evans even though he isn't the shooter that Barry is for part of the MLE but that might put the team over the luxury tax unless Head can be moved for a 2nd round pick.

IMO Head is a pretty good 3 point shooter and isn't worthless but his playoff performance was atrocious. Barry is definitely taller than him which can help overcome this problem to an extent.

I'm not blaming him at all....I'm just tired of the dog and pony show. It's probably a product of the media blowing everything out of proportion, but I'm pretty sick of the hemming and hawing that's being done. Besides, if you aren't sure, then say you aren't sure.....stop telling people "I'll know in a day or two..." It's been like 4 or 5 days since he first said that.

DD- Keep it real, don't start fooling yourself like some of these other guys. U know it doesn't add up. Getting a guy like Mason Jr., couldve allowed the rox to move Alston, start brooks and back him up with Mason Jr.

Herrera- Could u post ricky davis non playing ass stats?

So you'd be willing to sign Mason, Jr. to a chunk of the MLE and let the Lakers or Warriors sign Landry to a full MLE offer sheet?

Brent Barry is as good as it gets for the LLE, and the Rockets are in the mix.

Landry's situation essentailly takes away the Rockets' MLE, despite it being available technically.

Also, I'd feel more comfortable with Alston at the point guard rather than Brooks and Mason, Jr.

    The plan seems to be:

    -Sign Barry
    -Re-Sign Landry
-Trade expiring contracts at the trade deadline for a PG or a player to put the Rockets over the top.

Start Brooks? Thats crazy. Alston is our safest PG. Runs the point well enough for us to win games with our Big 2 out there. Brooks is better suited off the bench, or better yet, the future.

They spent around half of their MLE on Mason and are around $11M under luxury tax.

    Parker, Mason, Vaughn, Hill
    Manu, ***
    Bowen, Udoka, ***
    Duncan, Bonner, Gist
    Oberto, ***, ***

They also hold bird rights to Kurt Thomas, Finley and Horry.

If they really wanted to they could still offer the rest of their MLE to Barry.

For some reason, like nine other Masons popped into my head (Desmond, Anthony) before the most logical one, Roger Mason Jr.

    Clutchfans thread regarding the matter

I don't know if this takes SAS out of the running for Barry. I feel like they might want both.

7.5M over 2 years is a contract starting at 3.6M. That leaves them with $2.2M. The LLE is $1.9M.
