Spencer Hawes - can back up howard and play 4 when we need him to. Great high screen guy who can shoot the jumper after he sets a pick. Would be another good weapon to add, & we can go TT if needed. He is on a expiring so morey will have time to evaluate him and still make a run this summer on another player if he doesn’t want to resign him

Sigh. As always what a player produces on a truly terrible team is most often cut in half when playing for a very good team. It would be foolish to assume that his PHI numbers translate to HOU numbers. Complete folly.

Every time Asik gets close to 20/20 games, he gets pulled because his team is winning by so much.

Not exactly. When a player is traded they cannot be included in a package along with other players for two months. They can, however, be traded by themselves at any time.

So, yes Gortat could be traded straight up for Asik (salaries work). The problem would be that Gortat is an expiring contract so he'd likely be gone after the season.

Here's explanation on the rule from Larry's Coon's FAQ:

In addition, teams cannot trade players under the following circumstances:

•For two months after receiving the player in trade, if the trade aggregates the player's salary with the salaries of other players. However, the team is free to trade the player immediately, either by himself or without aggregating his salary with other salaries. This restriction applies only to teams over the salary cap. (Also see question number 86.)
