No team is gonna giveup a valuable asset to get an overwheight nutcase who has a history of being malcontent. no matter how cheap he is. they guy is in his contract year and is still refusing to get inshape.

Sure they will. Valuable to us, not so much to them. A team like the Sonics could be interested in moving Earl Watson, or Nick Collison for example. Perhaps a team just wants to get out of a longer term contract on a player such as Mike James. There's a market and it's really not that hard to see.

Maybe. i see where you're coming from now . it's like us trading howard's long and useless contract. maybe you gotta point.what i would love to see is bonzi and howard both being traded in the same deal. howards 6 mill and bonzi's 2.5 mill a year contract would equate to roughly around 8.5 mill a year.do we still have our trade exception?..

A second round pick, at best.

Somebody mentioned Pietrus. I'd take that because I like what Pietrus brings - but offering Bonzi's not gonna get it done.

I do admit we need to do SOMETHING with him though. If he's not gonna play then there's no point just holding him out, let him go somewhere else now. Time on the sidelines will only do further damage to any trade value he has left.

BTW, which teams would be interested in howard? he was ok 2 years ago, now he is useless and overrpaid. i doubt even throwing a cheap bargin like bonzi might sweeten the pot.

I'd do Bonzi Wells for Mike Sweetney.

We have to be realistic about our options. Sweetney is out of shape as well, but still better than Bonzi. But he can be used as insurance at the 4/5. Big body, soft touch, good rebounder, good shotblocker.

How about Wells and Howard for Duhon, Sweetney, and Malik Allen?

    or

Wells and Howard for PJ Brown?

PJ doesn't seem to be playing much, and I think Howard could play off Wallace better than Brown. He's a Chicago native, and a good vet. They seem to need some help in the lockerroom. Wells would be a nice fit as well, they are lacking in the big swingman department.

We need a big guy or someone who penetrates at will. Those are two things this team needs right now.

Sweetney is an enigma. kids got enourmess potential. but his physical shape is horrid. the duhon deal is not bad. however i have to admit the PJ brown sounds enticing. considering PJ will come off the books at seasons end and we get rid of howards multi year contract.

Mo Pete is expiring after this year, you don't give up young players and a pick for a one year rental for a mediocre player, even if he is a brave survivor of genital herpes.

    How about this one, Gundier.

Bonzi Wells + Juwan Howard for Chris Webber. If Webber returns
to the player he was last year - we're off and rolling. Risky, but what the hell.

I don't know what to think about Bonzi. I just hope he starts playing in the not-too-distant future, shows steady improvement, then hustles his way through our long playoff run like he'd like a contract as fat as his [whatever].

I don't think the salary matches... in fact, Webber makes so much money that it's very hard for the Rockets to match his salary unless TMac or Yao is involved (and obviously we don't do that).

Webb is also very immobile and the Rockets don't have the quickness around him to make up for his lack of mobility. At this point, I'd rather trade Bonzi straight up to Jarron Collins (as I mentioned before). He's a nice defender and was the 2nd leading charge taker in the league last year, despite playing only 20 mpg. Imagine teams trying to drive when Battier and him are in there... they gotta watch their steps or they'll pick up a lot of fouls on offense.

Mostly, though... the thought of Bonzi in Utah makes me chuckle.

I think the only teams that would touch him would be veteran playoff teams like Miami, Detroit, New Jersey, and maybe Indiana. I personally would not trade him in the west unless it was to a non playoff team, he scares me after what I saw him do to the Spurs in the playoffs last season. I still hope he plays with the rockets and the whole thing works out.
