Bonzi and Sura are potentially expiring contracts. Sura's got another year but depending on his contract or by agreement if he retires the team could owe him nothing next season, ie he's off the books. Watson's making enough of a fuss and his numbers reflect that.
Both of those trades work financially, but I really doubt the Clipper trade would happen. It would give them Cassell, Livingston, and Alston all at the PG. No need for that. It would leave US with no starting PG, but it would definitely give us a guy that takes the ball to the basket for a change. Still, doesn't make enough sense. As for Duhon, I could think of much worse ideas. If it could be done, I think I'd have to do it. Actually makes sense for both sides.
You've got a point. I guess we should take into consideration the fact that the Seattle franchise isn't doing so hot financially and they are probably looking to save as much money as possible right now.
You do realize the TWolves only make that deal if the Rockets include cash to cover the trade kicker, right? It's a far-fetched idea but no more so than anything else proposed in this thread. (Troy Murphy for Juwan and a backup for JRich?...Really?). Everyone is ignoring the fact that SG is the NBA's deepest position and Wells has no Bird Rights established. The latter meaning he can choose not to excercise his 2007-08 POpt and walk to the highest bidder. (The hope originally was he liked his HOU experience and would take an MLE deal next summer...pretty safe to write that off). The Twolves are really close to the LTax. Only players on the payroll on the last day of the regular season count toward the LTax. Waiving Sura @~$3m gives them a big cushion. The downside is that a MINN team not in contention for a playoff spot doesn't have any other reason to pull the trigger on this.
The Jazz front office would be shot on site if they decided to be this stupid. Millsap is being compared to Karl Malone. Forget it, nice dream but, may I suggest you take a better set of hallucinogens because you are just setting yourself up for a big disappointment in this case. Bottom line, tell the voices to "shut up!" It's not going to happen. Sorry man, reality bites sometimes.
IMO, you can only make this trade including Alston if you are convinced that JLIII is ready for primetime because, then he and Spanoulis would be running the show at the point. Not a bad idea though to add some serious punch to our lacking O. Maggette definitely would serve us well with his intermediate outside game and loves to penetrate the paint and draw lots of fouls which he usually does. One thing, hopefully Maggette is not near the headcase Bouncy Smells is.
The way I'm looking at it is that Minny will figure that signing James was a mistake. He plays the same role as Foye (who's played some minutes down the stretch for them already) and they're not going to want to pay James for three more years to sit in the fourth quarter. Move James for Bonzi and Sura's expiring contract and they get rid of a longterm deal. And why not take a flyer on Bonzi. He'll give them something they're missing (a lowpost scorer). If he meshes with the team, then maybe they'll contend for a playoff spot. And if not, they aren't in any worse situation than they are now.
I don't know what it would take to get Mobley back as a Rocket but I believe he would be our answer. His 3pt shooting has increased this season as well which is something we've definitely needed.
I think we would have to sell our soul to get Mobley back but, hey I'm all for it! LOL! As a fan, I loved Cat he was major clutch for us from the outside. In all honesty, I along with the organization would admit regret to having to trade Mobley along with Francis but face it, at the time this was a trade that had to be done. What most arent posting on here in their "T-Mac bites, sucks ..." posts is T-Mac on his bad nights is still better than a majority of his peers and definitely better than Francis but, I guess that point is logical and most on here would have none of that. Whatever ...
why don't we make him serve fries and pizza at the toyota center? It will send out the message that we don't tolerate overpaid douchebags who don't appreciate the opportunities that life gives them.
whats jaamal crawford going for? id love to have him playing point for us. and the knicks would give us crap like, 2008 unprotected 1st rounder+ crawford for bonzi + (whoever fits crawford, whether its sura, alston, or juhow (haha) getting crawford would easily be our best 3rd scorer who can shoot/drive, and share point duties with tmac since he's our "distributor/playmaker"
i say we trade bonzi wells for a playstation 3, and a nintendo wii off of ebay. we all know these new video game systems are worth more than that peice of **** bonzi wells.
Why in the world would Chicago trade a very valuable asset in Duhon for a half year renta malcontent player? Some of you guys........just don't get it. We aren't going to be able to trade Bonzi for a player of any value because: 1. His contract value is too small. and 2. He is an expiring deal. The value of Bonzi right now simply is as some expiring dollars to a team trying to save some lux tax money. His salary could be combined with a player like Sura's to created essentially $5.9 million of expiring dollars for some team wanting to save luxury tax dollars and dump a long term contract with a 2007 salary of $5.9 to $7.5 million. No team in the league is just going to trade an asset for trash just to save some tax dollars because there is going to be another team/teams that are willing to give up expirings and a young player or draft pick asset to get another asset. That's why if we are going to think about getting Maggette, we are gonna have to throw Bonzi, Sura, and a draft pick at them, plus possibly a young player. The Clips know Maggette has value. You can't get him by just throwing trash out there. You will only get trash back for trash out. Realistic possible scenarios: 1. Bonzi, Sura, first rounder and/or young player on rookie scale contract for Maggette. 2. Bonzi, Sura, first rounder and/or young player to Toronto for Mo Pete. 3. Bigger deal sending Bonzi, Sura, Juwan, Novak, and picks and or another young player like Luther to Seattle for Rashard and Earl Watson. Or possibly a deal including Juwan's contract for a player like Raef Lafrentz (overpaid, underplayed talented player who possibly would make a difference). Or possibly a deal including Juwan, Bonzi, and Sura to New York for one bad contract (Jerome James) and one good player (Quentin Richardson). 4. Bonzi for another mediocre player with a contract value of $2 million to $2.6 million for multiple years, who is sitting on somebody's bench doing nothing. 5. A lopsided trade taking back somebody's bad contract in exchange for Bonzi and Sura's deals, no picks included. Say those 2 for Jerome James. I'm sure we could probably do that deal. You want it? You can't trade Bonzi for Duhon straight up. You can't trade Bonzi for Pietrus straight up. It's not enough. And you can't trade Bonzi and howard for Millsap. SALARIES DON'T MATCH GENIUS. Not to mention, Zeke is not the general manager of the Jazz.
Dont expect much for bonzi. The only teams that will take him will be contenders or playoff teams that think bonzi will put them over the edge. No young team or team that is developing will even take him, since playing with a losing team will most certainly cause chemistry issues with bonzi. I really only expect 2nd round draft picks + fillers, to match the salary. Thats if anybody wants him, the guy has barely played at all this season.
Bonzi has no real value at this point. someone like ely or a gazduric is the best we can hope for. whatever value he had is reduced to nothing now.
I think it's very wrong to assume that Bonzi doesn't have value around the league. Last time he saw significant court time he was destroying the Spurs of all teams. I don't care how much of a head case he has appeared to be so far this season, but there are tons of teams that would love to get their hands on Bonzi for half a season just in case it turned out well for them. Most malcontents that can't find a home (ie. Darius Miles) are unattractive due to huge contracts. Bonzi is cheap cheap cheap.
Bonzi + Howard for Millsap is idiotic, I agree. But as for Duhon or Pietrus... Both appear to work just fine. Care to explain your reasoning for why they wouldn't?
