Patty Mills Likely in 2nd Round

Nearly every scout I spoke with in Treviso said that if Mills remains in the draft this year he will be a second rounder. His performance in Treviso did nothing to change the nosedive that his stock has taken since workouts began. One scout mentioned the fact that guards were blocking his shots during the Oakland workout and that his size was becoming an apparent issue.

Before his wrist injury, Mills was riding a wave of momentum having led the Australian national team in scoring during his great performance in the Olympics. He came back and struggled to play up to the same level late in the year, and hasn't been able to turn things around.

Word is that Mills has yet to sign with an agent and could go back to school, despite the fact that he announced he would stay in the draft. Regardless, many scouts see Mills as an eventual back up in the league.

    ^^^^

    Hmm, intriguing to hear.

Maybe he SHOULD stay in school one more season and get his mojo
    back.

Patty Mills is pure talent but i think he needs to stay in school one more year. If he does however, decide to keep his name in the draft, we should definately try buy an early 2nd round pick to get him. As a fellow Australian i may be a bit biased, but i have a feeling Patty will be quite a good player in this league.

IMO, Mills has more to lose by going back to college, eg see Tyler Hansborough. Mills is further along than US college kids because of his time spent at the AIS and also being involved with the Australian Olympic team. Transitioning to a professional environment will go smoothly for him.

If his game needs one year of seasoning he should go to Europe.

All the NBA teams know about him now. It sounds like he'll be definate draft pick, just not a lock for the first round. If he needs to wait one more year, why not get paid as well?

His shots weren't getting blocked in the Olympics or at the College level before he got hurt. He had a broken wrist remember. He performed well at the Olympics against an American Team that was on a mission. I don't care how the International Game is played. He was against Paul, Kidd and Williams.

I'll take Patty over Brooks the headless chicken.

I like Lowry though; he better be working on his shot right now.

Raises a good point. What has Rubio done that other Point Guards, specifically Patrick Mills, have not done to be rated so highly?

Forget Mills. Buy a 2nd, draft Sergio Llull and let him ripen in Europe for 2 years.

It is the Australian contingent on here that wants a piece of Mills jo.

I am neither here nor there, would take him in the mid 2nd round.

We already have Newley, so Aussies can be happy for that.

Yeah, but just imagine if one day the Rockets had a backcourt of Mills & Newley... just imagine it, EVERY Rockets game on ONE HD!! (ok, maybe not... but they would give us a few games!) But seriously, Mills could do well, depends if brooks or lowry are going to be moved i guess...

The question I posed that not one person is answer is what has the Euro-trash point guard done that Patty Mills hasn't to be considered the second best prospect in the draft.

Maybe it has something to do with your words "Euro trash". I am sure most respectable posters just ignored you right off after reading that.
