Just watched "Selma", and having seen many of the other nominated films (almost all of them, at this point - still need to see "Whiplash"), I was unimpressed. It's a good, but not great, movie. The direction was uninspired (paced inadequately with poor editing), and while David Oyelowo was very good at acting like Dr. King, I never felt his performance went any further than the surface of the man, with the exception the scene where Spoiler he and his wife discuss his infidelity. Sadly, one scene does not a great performance make (unless you're Alec Baldwin in "Glengarry Glen Ross"). Watching it, I couldn't help but notice the similarities with Spike Lee's "Malcolm X", which was a MUCH better film, IMHO.
