Didn't Uchimura also fall off the apparatus and not make it to the finals? If it can happen to him it can certainly happen to Biles.
Yeah, he’s been on the downside of his career. He was Simone before Simone. In a much harder sport, competition wise
Agreed. She has what is called "The Twisties" which is similar to the Yips in Baseball. Except for a gymnast it causes them to be unable to properly control there bodies in mid-air. When Altuve has the Yips, he makes a bad throw - no big deal. When a gymnast gets The Twisties, they are literally risking a career-ending or even life-altering injury.
I can't explain it but Simon's explanations seem off -- I wouldn't be surprised if she tweaked her back or something and wants to be 100% to pull off that crazy vault. The struggles are real but this is odd imo.
So many gymnasts compete with twisties, it’s almost a guarantee that this isn’t her first time getting them. There’s usually a few specific side drills and words to get the feeling back. That or water sets down.
It’s pure speculation on my part. But what separates Simone from others is her air awareness, and her ability to put her feet to the ground. She seemed rattled in qualifications and warm up for AA finals, that combined with all eyes on her, her level of “invincibility” was crushed. Twisties is common. Losing complete confidence in your own ability is not. Of course, I don’t know this for sure. I’m sure I’ll hear something about what actually happened down the road.
Is it me or does it feel harder to watch. Always seemed simpler schedules before, and the replays had more detail. Now if you don’t catch the early morning broadcast you won’t see everything. Too much emphasis on streaming imo
I don’t know about y’all but watching this years Olympics makes me even more thankful to be born in America. We are leading the medal charge once again.
They're grabbing hair and braids in Women's Rugby sevens!!? I didn't know that's a penalty, I would think that would be legal, lol.
I enjoy the streaming options. The only thing is you have to really search if you want to watch something obscure. NBC has 3-5 channels with Olympic stuff, but you have no Idea where anything is being broadcast or when..
Dude with Achilles injury was landing his big tricks on his good leg and you could only notice it in slow mo. 3 months... How?
