    Anyone trying to go to the Olympics this summer in Japan? I Just bought some Volleyball and Soccer tickets. I was wondering if anyone has any ambitions to attend or in the alternative any experience with going to the Olympics etc.. etc...

    I get pumped for the Olympics every year...seems like I haven't heard a word about this one yet.

    Seriously... Last I heard of it, was at the closing ceremony at the last Olympics when Mario came out and saluted President Abe.

    Yeah it's pretty weird. The Olympics are this summer! Usually you get a bunch of Olympic trials on TV so you at least know who is going. Did you guys know 3 on 3 bball is premiering in this year's Olympics?

    That's because it is Japan and nothing is behind schedule. Theres no fecal matter in the Olympic waters. There will be no shortage of condoms in the Olympic Village. Even Super Nintendo World at Universal Osaka will be open in time. They are efficient. I'm trying to go in May before the Olympic contingent starts moving in.

    Skating will be making it's Olympic debut this year with a Bowl Park and a Street Park. As someone who has skated their entire life until I was forced to hang my last few decks up due to health I'm excited for it. I miss jumping on my board so much.

    Man, that's awesome, skating should have been in the Olympics years ago. I never was that great at skating (definitely tried) but always enjoyed the early X Games 90s/early 00s. Sorry to hear about you having to stop skating, it sucks when age/health get in the way. Like if I were to attempt it now... Yeah it'd be a quick trip to the ER. I don't know how I was able to fall back then... Now though, I'd probably mess up my back or worse in the first few minutes.

    could have sworn the Olympics was just a year ago in Russia when France beat Croatia in the finals? maybe that was Winter and this is Summer Olympics. I'm excited regardless.

    That was the FIFA World Cup lol.
    There's also no soccer in Winter Olympics, it's purely for winter sports.

    There is some backlash against Japan for their plans to use the Rising Sun flag used by Imperial Japan up through WWII. Korea and other Asian neighbors have been particularly vocal in their opposition.
