Olympics 2020

I've always felt that any sport where the Olympics aren't the pinnacle of achievement they shouldn't be in the Olympics. Golf and Tennis have the Majors and winning an Olympic gold seems less important than winning those. The World Cup is far more important for the Olympics for Soccer. With Baseball obviously the World Series. For basketball and hockey back during the Cold War and when it was US amateurs versus the Soviet's it had much more importance. What makes the Miracle on Ice a miracle was that it was college players upsetting a team that could beat most NHL teams. Now with the NHL and NBA where most of these players play on mixed teams and with higher level competition the Olympics isn't the pinacle of achievement. It's not the high honor for All Stars to play on the Olympics like it is to win the NBA championship or the Stanley Cup. One reason why we see many of the best players pass on the Olympics.

 

Would it not be confusing for historical records that Tokyo 2020 was held in 2021? Why not Tokyo 2021 instead?

I can't believe they showed the top two discus throws then wrapped -- discus is an OG olympic sport you have to give it a 15-30 minute block.

They should have a special with two hours of coverage with humans throwing weird heavy things as far as possible (shotput, hammer, javelin, discus).

On a somewhat related note.... Trayvon Bromell ... barely squeaked into the next round in the men's 100m. The next rounds are going to be awesome, but hopefully Bromell gets his act together. That was unexpected. Also, Elaine Thompson-Herah's run... DAMN! She could be gunning for FloJo's 100m record soon.

 

It looks like a fancy safety pin? I know now that in the competitive track world this is a norm. But what a hassle. I don't understand why a name on a uniform with a number on it ...

 

Im really sick of these Toyota Commercials. Especially the one with the awkward guy virtually asking the girl out to the dance.

I wish they would go back to amateurs in sports like hockey and basketball.

 

I hate that commercial so much. We need one where the guy gets rejected.

 

US doping program needs to start doping... we are losing and our athletes are looking weak and scrawny.

 

I'm getting sick of these elite athletes embarrassing me and my country.
