Clutch BBS needs Houston Texans Game Day Threads. No longer Off Season. I think we will be grilling some Red Birds for dinner tonite!!!!!
Come on now, you know people are all over the lunacy at The Chronic's sports section because they present "opposing viewpoints". It's because they write drivel. Babbling, illogical, flip-floppy, whiny, unprofessional, 1st-grade-level drivel. Embarrassment to this great city. Their "opposing viewpoint" would be fine (well, except Solomon's occasional race-baiting) ((welllll, and the fact that 50% of the time Justice's viewpoint (the 'flop' to his 'flip' as it were) isn't even "opposing")) were at least decently written. But it's not. I generally get the feeling that I can handpick any junior high campus in America and produce a better sports section than what we get here in Houston.
I don't think I've ever been this excited about our Defense. Wow... I remember when DeMeco Ryans stood out on D for being an animal but now the whole team seems to be that way. Pollard and Cushing have really brought this attitude change to the team. Everyone is competing to put the next big hit or make the next big play.
I don't follow football much so excuse the ignorance: what is the latest on Owen Daniels? Also, how prominent of a role was Tate expected to play this season? Basically, is this a huge loss or was he unlikely to play a lot this year?
When he was drafted people were talking like he could be a big impact player for us. That's why we passed on Toby Gerheart (sp?) because Tate was supposed to be an equivalent player. Reports from practice have been that Tate has been pretty pathetic as a practice player so there were basically 0 expectations of him at this point.
I'm not entirely sure, but I think he it is 50/50 whether he is ready when the season starts? Someone else might need to jump in on that one.
This is from Aug 2 training camp report from Vic Carucci about Owen Daniels: http://www.nfl.com/trainingcamp/story/09000d5d81977133/article/pro-bowl-was-nice-but-schaub-hoping-for-more-from-texans?module=HP_cp2 [rquoter]Extras: Tight end Owen Daniels is making good progress from the ACL surgery he had last November, and is expected to be ready for the start of the regular season. Daniels is not participating in practice, which is more of a precaution because he insists he has no limitations on the knee. Whether he will play any preseason games is uncertain, and hardly a priority beyond the ability to knock off a little pad-wearing rust. "Maybe third game, maybe a series in the fourth game," Daniels said[/rquoter]
Thanks. I had not heard much about him. I kind of expected him to be back up and running did not realize it was so bad . . .well . . I understand not rushing him back Rocket River
Hmm... a #2 pick, as a RB, you'd really think the guy would be an impact player. Puts even more pressure on Jackson playing to expectations (hate to see the top two picks be non-factors).
Interesting...Slaton reminds me a lot of Westbrook....except Slaton is to fumbling what Westbrook is to injuries.
True...and I hope it is. But, by all accounts, the injury seems rather serious. A high ankle sprain would have him back by week 2 or 3...but almost everyone is saying that its more significant than that. Plus, if it was only a sprain, Im sure Tate would have mentioned that he'll be back soon enough. I hope Im wrong, but I think its more serious than a sprain. Plus, when he was getting carried off the field, the ankle seemed to be dragging. Edit: Also, a high ankle sprain would be easier to diagnose...and I would think that the news on that would have been out by now. The fact that it is taking this long to get any info shows that the injury might be more complicated than a sprain.
