bye bye... Dunta Brown Brown ....i wish.... Was a fun finish to the season after that devastating 4 game skid involving very winnable games but failure at the goal line and a kicker who couldn't make extra points.... Too bad the Colts didn't play like the Pats did last night....ugh. Go Texans.
Glad Kubiak is coming back, and I hope they have a great off-season to fill in some of the holes we saw that kept us out of the playoffs. I do think next year is looking to be tough from a schedule standpoint. Home: Indianapolis, Jacksonville, Tennessee, Kansas City, San Diego, Dallas, N.Y. Giants, Baltimore Away: Indianapolis, Jacksonville, Tennessee, Denver, Oakland, Philadelphia, Washington, N.Y. Jets We have to find a way to get 6 wins at home, and maybe 4 on the road to get to 10 wins. Splitting or going above .500 in the division will help for sure. We'll play some tough defenses next year, it'll be a real test for the boys - but they have to continue to build on what they've started this past month.
Kam posted this link in the scoreboard watching thread... projected future schedules If this holds true, the Texans would likely add Baltimore and the Jets (the other 2nd place teams) to that schedule, along with the AFC South teams. That is an absolutely brutal schedule.
In FAs please get more offensive line help for depth, Secondary help, Kicker, also a BIG DTackle and maybe a BIG RB. In the draft please get E.Thomas from UT or McCoy from OU in the 1st rd and I would like another RB in the middle rds. Side note - Is it me or did Foster really look like he fit in the zone blocking scheme? Foster and Slaton COULD be a pretty dynamic combo next season.

"Something wrong.. He needs to get checked out" - Andre Johnson, answering at a press conference with a hint of amusement after learning Jacoby Jones got nervous and threw up apparently several times... http://www.houstontexans.com/tv/index.asp?mm_file_id=3895&play_clip=Y It's been a great close to the year sans the playoffs and hopefully the talent will continue the upward trend (i.e. Cushing, Pollard, Quin, etc.)
Protect the home field; a winning record, at least. To have a losing record on your home field is ridiculous. Shake up, sharpen up your coaching staff; pick a kick butt offensive coordinator. Get rid of players who consistently under perform. Draft well.
Hell . . . go 3-3 in the Division should be a goal. How many 1st and second round draft picks have the Texans spend on the D-Line. Maybe it is time to solidify the O-Line and the Secondary. Rocket River
We need a new kicker, some secondary help, d-line help(including a big DT), a little more offensive line depth, and possibly a new second receiver (should Walter leave, which I don't see happening). The first round sure has it's intriguing players. You'll hear a lot about the Terrance Codys, Taylor Mays, Gerald McCoys (doubt he's around when we pick), Earl Thomas, etc. One name that will be pretty intriguing to me, and I'll have to watch him is Jerry Hughes. Guy has been putting up monster numbers at TCU, since, I believe, converting from playing running back in high school. It'll be interesting to see if he remains projected as a DE, or if he is projected as an OLB (which I kind of thing will happen). Probably depends on whether he will be picked into a 3-4 or 4-3 scheme. I'll go on record to say that I think he will be one of the bright spots of this upcoming draft. I just can't see the Texans spending a first round pick on someone that has the potential to be another Jason Babin (although, like I said, I don't think he will be). Especially when we just drafted Connor Barwin, who is coming along. But please, for the love of God, get a new kicker in here.
To do list: * Resign Bernard Pollard! * Fire Kubiak! * Sign Cower! * FA, rookie(s) and/or trade for big time DT or NT * Resign Owen Daniels! * Trade Robinson for pick (if possible) * FA, rookie(s) and/or trade for big time CB(s) * Give Ryans the contract he deserves! Playoff team ASAP!
I will be very surprised if either Brown is back next year. DRob might be back for one more year. I do see the Texans drafting a CB in the first round next year as DRob's replacement. Jacques Reeves is also a possible DRob replacement next year as well, if DRob is set free and no quality CB is available in the first round.
http://www.myfoxhouston.com/dpp/sports/nfl/100104-kyle-shanahan-texans HOUSTON - Houston Texans offensive coordinator Kyle Shanahan told FOX 26 Sports on Monday that if his father, Mike Shanahan, returns to the NFL as a head coach, he will join him. Mike Shanahan was fired by the Denver Broncos after the 2008 season. He is expected to return to NFL as a head coach in 2010, perhaps with the Washington Redskins. "If he does coach in the NFL, I plan on going with him," Kyle Shanahan said. Kyle Shanahan has been with the Texans for four years, and has served as offensive coordinator the last two. He is close to Texans head coach Gary Kubiak. "It's real hard, but it's been in the back of my mind for a long time. "The way things went down in Denver, this might be the last opportujnity to caosch with my dad." On Kyle Shanahan's watch in 2009, Texans quarterback Matt Schaub led the NFL in passing yardage and Andre Johnson led the NFL in receiving yardage. Howerver, the lure of coaching with his father will overcome his ties to the Texans. "I can't miss this opportunity," Kyle Shanahan said. "It might be my final chance to work with my father." "It's an emotional time. I care about the Texans, but this is the right thing to do."
