Well given our history, its easy to coincide the words "lots of sacks" with our offensive line, but yea we were pretty good in pass protection last year. The running game suffered but losing our starting guards and the constant shuffling didn't help
You may remember WR Glenn Martinez being placed on IR last week. Well, he was given his outright release yesterday. I imagine the club reached an injury settlement with him, so now he's free to sign with any team.
Looks like it's up to Holliday to lock down the PR/KR spots. I heard Slaton is trying out for the KR spot, but I don't think that's going to happen. If not, we go back to Jacoby!
ChronicleTexans John McClain reports Texans owner Bob McNair is lobbying NFL to reduce LB Brian Cushing's 4-game suspension.
Comical. Bob should save his Hail Mary for CBA talks. I'm surprised Goodell is even taking the meeting.
Why is it comical? McNair is fighting for one of his players. It is a long shot but he really doesn't have a lot to lose.
Damn. Wonder if he has anything significant to show RG. If it's reduced or dropped....freaking sweet.
Reports: Texans owner, commish to talk Houston Texans owner Bob McNair will meet with NFL commissioner Roger Goodell on Monday in New York regarding linebacker Brian Cushing's suspension for the use of performance-enhancing drugs, according to multiple media reports. Cushing was suspended for four games without pay after testing positive last September for hCG, a fertility drug that is on the league's banned substance list. He said he never took a banned substance and has no idea how the positive test happened. McNair hopes to present new evidence that will shorten or eliminate Cushing's suspension, according to the Houston Chronicle and KRIV-TV. A source told KRIV-TV that Cushing has been going through a battery of medical tests with hopes of showing the NFL the elevated levels of hCG found in his body were naturally occurring. McNair recently said he believes Cushing is innocent and has paid for some of Cushing's recent tests, according to the Chronicle. Cushing had 133 tackles for the Texans last season to win The Associated Press Defensive Rookie of the Year award and retained it after a revote following his suspension. link
The NFL's drug policy is very clear. He already appealed and lost. Bob's a smart man. I can't believe he's buying what Cush is selling. Call me skeptical. Unless there is going to be a new medical condition called "Cushing", he's the 1st person who "immaculately conceived" HCG without either some really bad tumors or putting something in his body that shouldn't be there. He got caught. Take your suspension and move on.
I don't know if this post was ironic or sarcastic, but there actually is a medical disease called, "Cushing's Disease."
Mcnair is one of the most glorious owners in the NFL and highly respected by the commish. There is no horse racing going on, a trip to NY will be the highlight of mcnair's day, so there is nothing to lose. And maybe just maybe, like the Vikings, our team can delay the suspension til 2012.
I don't expect anything to come out of it, but at the very least McNair is showing his players he will stand behind them. Which is good, I suppose.
