The Texans placed FB Justin Griffith on IR with a spinal cord contusion. He was competing with Vonta Leach for the FB roster spot. To take his spot on the 80-man roster, the Texans signed FB Jack Corcoran, who was with the team during OTAs.

Houston Texans There is a tentative press conference scheduled today at 1:30 p.m. CT with WR Andre Johnson. Watch it live only on HoustonTexans.com. From Facebook
I also think there is a solid chance that Andre Davis gets cut and Trindon gets to be the full time return man. I mean, the Texans HAD to be considering that as a possibility when they drafted the guy. They knew he couldn't possibly be a receiver in the NFL, so he would be a return specialist. If it turns out he isn't very good as a returner (and the guy is lightening quick and low to the ground, so he should be pretty elusive) then yeah, he won't make the team...but if he shows any flashes I think he makes it.
Done deal according to Berman. http://www.myfoxhouston.com/dpp/sports/nfl/100805-andre-johnson_texans-reach-deal

Well deserved. http://www.chron.com/disp/story.mpl/sports/fb/texansfront/7140836.html Deal makes Texans' Johnson highest-paid WR in NFL Andre Johnson’s new contract with the Texans will make him the highest-paid receiver in the NFL. Johnson received a two-year extension worth $38.5 million, including $13 million guaranteed. Counting the five years and $35 million he had left on his old contract, his deal is worth seven years and $73.5 million – an average of $10.5 million a year. "This will make him a Texan for life," Texans general manager Rick Smith said. The contract also has incentive bonuses and built-in escalators that can make it even more valuable. Owner Bob McNair said on the first day of training camp he thought the deal would be completed within two weeks. It didn’t take general manager Rick Smith, vice president of football administration Chris Olsen and agent Kennard McGuire that long to finish. "It's important that Andre have one home - and that's with the Houston Texans," McNair said. "He will probably be our first Hall of Fame player. We wanted to make sure he went in as a Texan and he played his carer as a Texan. Hopefully he will retire as a Texan." McGuire also negotiated receiver Brandon Marshall’s new deal with Miami – five years, $50 million. Last season, Johnson 101 catches for 1,569 yards and nine touchdowns. In 2008, he had 115 receptions for 1,575 yards and eight touchdowns. Last season, Johnson joined Jerry Rice as the only receivers to lead the league in yards in back-to-back seasons since the merger in 1970. "Today, I’m very happy that we were able to get everything settled, and I can move forward with football.” Johnson joined Marvin Harrison as the only receivers with at least 1,500 yards in consecutive seasons. john.mcclain@chron.com
I'm glad that's done and for the way it was done. AJ is an example for how a professional athlete should act. Show up to work, work hard, be a good person on and off the field and good things will happen for you. Doesn't hurt to be a world class athlete, too. Congrats to Mr. Johnson.
Remember when there was an actual debate as to who would be the best NFL receiver: Charles Rogers or Andre Johnson? LOL... One of the few picks that Casserly and Co. actually hit the jackpot on.
Good thing the Lions took Charles Rogers off the board before Casserly had the chance to consider him.
