if you're calling a halfback pass from the 3, you do have business losing. :)

That wasn't a halfback pass. He got hit and fumbled it

It does if you care about the quality of sports talk in Houston during football season.

90% of it was in our control.
    • The run defense and fumbles against the Jets
    • Allowing Jones-Drew to rush for 3 TD's in Game 3
    • Schaub's INT against the Cardinals
    • The 13 penalties in Game 9 against the Colts
    • Vince Young outrushing our entire team in Game 10
    • Blowing a 20-7 lead and getting outscored 28-7 in the 2nd half in Game 11
    • Going 5 for 15 on 3rd down conversions in Game 12
Sorry, but none of that was just bad luck.

We'd all be praising 2009 as a rousing success if just ONE of the listed points above didn't happen.

And I'm not "completely condemning" anyone.

Let's just toss last season aside and be glad that neither Chris Brown nor Kris Brown should be here to give away four potential wins on four crucial plays throughout the season.

(Fully aware that the CB halfback pass was the worst coaching call of all-time and not his fault, and that Kris Brown's miss against Indy never would've happened if we hadn't gone conservative on 3rd down of the last drive)

1-5 in your own division is not going to cut it!
That was the Season right there. Could not win in their own division.

Texans *HAVE TO* go at least 3-3 in the Division IMO

When DieHard Rocket mentioned the scenario of the Colts (see above), which was exactly right, and ima responded with this:

Nope, the 4-game losing streak in the middle of the season sealed our fate.

To say "nope" to the statement that the Texans would've been in the playoffs if not for the Colts/Jets stuff is out of line, because that statement is 100% correct. I'm not denying any of the factors within the Texans' control (though you could make a list exactly like that for most teams, it's part of a season). But there's nothing wrong with pointing out bad luck from external factors as playing a role - because it did.

Trindon Holliday's Teammates Remind Him That He Is Diminutive
by Spencer Hall • Aug 4, 2010 10:26 AM EDT

Trindon Holliday is on the far edge of the bell curve of what makes a viable football player, standing at 5' 5" in thick-soled shoes and weighing around 165 pounds after lunch. Darren Sproles calls him "Shorty," and Darren Sproles is the original NFL micro-back. He's small is what we're trying to drive home, something college broadcast crews delighted in showing by using shots of him standing next to 6' 7", 385 pound lineman Herman Johnson.

Holliday is now in camp with the Houston Texans. If playful ribbing goes toward making the team, then Holliday has already made the cut. (Photo after jump.)

He's clearly beloved already, though if that is his actual bike all previous statements are revoked, and I congratulate Holliday on being extremely comfortable in his masculinity.

That Chris Brown clip makes my stomach turn...the flashbacks. Ugh.

Like Rocket River stated...its all about the division record. We need to go, at a minimum, 3-3 in the division. Give the rest of the schedule, I would think that we need to go 4-2 within the division.

Those 6 games are the most important 6 games of the season.

after watching some Holliday highlights, i'm pumped to see what this guy can bring. because he's so small it helps with his elusiveness on kick offs and returns. if you're opponent can't see you, they can't catch you.

i understand everything your saying....but here's my perspective (certainly doesn't make it right):

i'm tired of excuses. it's pro football. every year there's a new excuse. we went through years of excuses for Carr. now the excuses are for Kubiak. this franchise is defined by its excuses. this is the 9th season. what's past is past. but no more excuses. as a fan...i'm just tired of it. i'd much rather just hear it said: "eh, we/they weren't good enough. we didn't get it done."

It's likely he doesn't make the team.

Really? I think he's almost certainly going to make the team. I would be shocked if he doesnt.

he has to earn it, but cutting a guy you spent a draft pick is not something you'd like to do.

I think he likely ends up on practice squad. Kubiak hasn't been very positive on about him in camp thus far, and the receiver position is pretty full.

    Andre
    Walter
    DA
    Jacoby

They'll probably only carry one more which means Holliday has to beat out Andre Davis. The problem with that is Davis is a reliable returner and has also proven himself capable in the passing game, whereas Holliday is nothing but a return man.
