man....this time of year sucks! I keep looking for Texan's merchandise for the game room / bar..... bah.
Well, I did this last year and ended up only two games off. Let's have a go at it. Season Predictions! 9/12 Colts: Actually one of the biggest games of the season, if not THE biggest. Running game gets off to a slow start, but Schaub is money out of the gates. Once the running starts to improve, we start clicking on all cylinders, and that includes the defense. A HUGE win to start the season in terms of momentum and attitude. Result: W Record: 1-0 9/19 @Redskins: A close game throughout, the Texans get much needed fg's in the last three minutes by Rackers to put the icing on the cake. Defense plays sloppy against a weak offense, and offense struggles but pulls through none-the-less. Result: W Record: 2-0 9/26 Cowboys: Defense shows how important Cushing really is by putting up terrible stats. The offense does play acceptable, but they can't make up for the crummy defense. Result: L Record: 2-1 10/3 @Raiders: Both sides of the ball play extremely well, and the Texans improve to 3-1. Result: W Record: 3-1 10/10 Giants: Eli plays better than Peyton did in week 1, and our offense struggles against an improved defense from last season. Remains close until the 4th quarter, but Giants pull away and spoil Brian's return. Result: L Record: 3-2 10/17 Chiefs: Texans score on the first drive and never look back in a whooping. Result: W Record: 4-2 11/1 @Colts: In another key game, the Texans come out strong in the first half against the Colts, only to see their play dimenish in the second half in a replay from last year. Result: L Record: 4-3 11/7 Chargers: Needing a win badly to stay in position for the playoffs, the Texans come out motivated. However, the Chargers play strong everywhere and take a 10 point lead to half. Determined to win, the Texans make an awesome comeback to win the game. Result: W Record: 5-3 11/14 @Jaguars: Texans look like they did last year against the Jags and play sloppy throughout in an embarrassing loss. Result: L Record: 5-4 11/21 @Jets: Still bitter from week 1 of last year, the Texans play great defense throughout. The offense struggles against a more than impressive D, but they do what it takes to get a big win. Result: W Record: 6-4 11/28 Titans: In a brutally physical game, these rivals go back and forth throughout until Schaub leads a last minute drive and Rackers wins it in the end. Result: W Record: 7-4 12/2 @Eagles: Texans play awful in the first half, and can't seem to make another comeback come crunch time. Second half is much better, but not enough. Result: L Record: 7-5 12/13 Ravens: Their defense plays extremely well, as does ours. In an all out struggle to score, the Ravens end up getting the best of us. Result: L Record: 7-6 12/19 @Titans: Coming off two straight losses, and with playoff hopes disentegrating, the Texans play their best game of the season. Fans start to pray for three wins to end the season. Result: W Record: 8-6 12/26 @Broncos: On the day after Christmas, we play like a super bowl caliber team and dominate the Broncs. Everyone involved with the organization finally starts to believe. Result: W Record: 9-6 1/2 Jaguars: Looking for revenge from week 10, the Texans unleash all their weapons on the Jags in an aerial assualt. Schaub throws for 350 and 4 while the running game is no slack either. The home crowd realizes that this team IS going to make the playoffs. Result: W Final Record: 10-6 Yall's thoughts? Dang, that took longer than I thought it would. Anyway, my opinion is obviously biased as I'm a huge Texans fan, but realistically, any of this stuff could happen. I don't think there was any prediction TOO out of the norm, but there might have been a few stretches. I'm tired of not seeing us in the playoffs, and this could be the year that ends. Go Texans!
^ That seems pretty well thought out, Rocketfanatic2, but I'm not making any predictions until after camp breaks. Too many variables to consider...
good breakdown. While i disagree with some of those wins/losses, I still think 10 wins is reachable. But until the season starts, who knows how things are going to pan out.
True, with injuries and other stuff possibly happening during camp and preseason, who knows what the starting lineup will look like going into the start of the season. I agree that 10 wins is reachable, but we have such a tough schedule that we will probably go 9-7 again. But as you said, who knows how things turn out. The reason I put us losing to Dallas at home is because I can't see us going into week five 4-0, and that seemed like a game where it wouldn't be a jaw-dropping loss. We could just as easily be 1-3 going into week 5 instead of 4-0 or 3-1. There are just too many games that could go either way, and I had us dropping this one. I honestly believe that we will beat them, but as i said, I don't think we'll be 4-0 after week 4.
We most certainly could (in fact, I'd argue it's *more* likely than 4-0). We could, and it would *SUCK*. It would suck so very hard. I'd feel like, "man, here we are: losers again." Not to mention the handwringing and gnashing of teeth that would be going on in places like this. Holy crap. And sports radio would be entirely unlistenable.
Something to chew on. What would happen to the AFC south if Jacksonville moved to LA? I'm thinking that KC would switch places with them. Thus making AFC South: KC, HOU, TEN, IND AFC West: LA, SD, OAK, DEN Thoughts?
it's very, very early in the process right now... but where there's smoke, there's fire... http://sports.yahoo.com/nfl/blog/sh...ces-intentions-to-poach-the-Ja?urn=nfl,212070 http://sports.espn.go.com/los-angeles/nfl/news/story?id=4799345
I think it stays the same. The Hunt family would fight to the death to maintain historic rivalries within the division and the NFL certainly would listen. How else did Dallas get to stay in the NFC East? Two expansion teams and two teams that slunk out of their original cities like cowards don't have alot of leverage.
Nox is the only place in Houston that can compete with the hotness of an LA, NY, Miami or Vegas club. I wouldnt knock that club...without it, Houston nightlife is virtually nonexistent.
Probably right. Another option would be having Jax switch to the NFC and move into the NFC West, with St. Louis moving to the AFC South. Makes as much sense, geographically, as KC, but likely w/o the fight. Aren't the Rams up for sale or have just been sold? New owners would likely not have the clout to prevent that type of move.
