    Amobi playing lighter this year?

Kubiak mentioned him losing a few pounds and they're ok with that, though they dont want him too light. 286 a few days ago, though 15 lbs lighter than what he was playing at last year(listed as 296 on the roster, so 281)

i guess he felt like he wasnt quick enough at 296. He isnt a run stopper so if he can use his best assets (his explosiveness) to shoot gaps than good luck.

I really hope he turns the corner this year.

He was already undersized so why not get lighter and do exactly what you just said.

Talking about shedding weight for quickness:...."I mean, it doesn't take much to show me quickness – I'm not the most fleet-footed guy. But no, he's looking fast. He's looking good. It's hard to tell right now. It's May. We've got to wait ‘til we get to camp and the pads are on and we're in Day 6 of two-a-days to see how guys are."
    - QB Matt Schaub, on if running back Steve Slaton's quickness has impressed him after Slaton lost 10-15 pounds this offseason

    from houstontexans.com

Good. Steve putting the weight on was a very bad idea last year.

His uncle wasn't much of a hack when he negotiated that Texans' friendly contract for Andre. Really, his uncle has nothing to do with this. The fact is that since AJ signed that contract, the salaries for premier WRs has shot up dramatically. AJ simply wants to get paid like a premier receiver in the NFL because he is in the top 3. After all, isn't that the lament everyone around here repeats over and over about AJ? I can understand and respect that especially seeing how much money Roy Williams is getting up here in Dallas for not even producing 1/4th of what AJ is putting out. After all, if you're not going to win anything, at least get paid for losing.

So should he get to redo his contract ever single year to account for salary inflation? Why sign a contract at all. Why not just sign a contract that says "I will play for the Texans for me entire career but my salary will be calculated yearly by averaging the top 3 contracts for WR in the NFL."

His uncle has been a hack the entire time he's pretended to be an "agent". Running his mouth, and AJ having to cover for him.

    Hack.

But there are still 5 years left on the contract...if there were 1 or 2 years left, then I understand, but this is ridiculous.

Carlos Lee is making 19 million this year...which I believe makes him the highest paid outfielder for this season (or at least top 2-3). Should every all-star outfielder b**** and moan...and demand a salary that is comparable to Lee? Absolutely not. Besides, its not like Andre is getting screwed in salary...he is still getting paid very well and he has been paid out over 26 million in the last 3 years, so that still puts him well ahead of the curve. No matter what, there will always be certain players making more than others, whether they deserve it or not. Throw in inflation and you'll see a continued rise in salaries. This is on AJ for signing an 8 year deal. The Texans did absolutely nothing wrong and they should not have to deal with crap like this, even if its from the best player on the team. That doesnt give Andre the right to be a b****.

Bingo! I'm not saying this is the sole reason but Brandon Marshall got paid and is or eventually will be the top paid WR iirc. So now Andre wants to get paid. Ok, so what if next year, lets just say one of Chad Ochocinco or Braylon Edwards or Santonio Holmes(just throwing out names) get paid and now is the highest paid WR, is AJ gonna want another contract to make him the highest? Doesn't really work like that.

I think his uncle has been exposed. Everytime I read or hear about this story, the main point is his uncle negotiated a terrible contract.

Not that upset about it. It is just voluntary OTAs right now, AJ will show up when needed and be ready.

If anything this will give our other receivers time to show their stuff to the coaches.

Tin foil hat theory... AJ was kind enough to take the heat off Cush.

Pretty elaborate plan by the Texans if you ask me. The Texans knew the Cushing story would be front and center when OTAs began. The only way to deflect it was for their star player not to show up for practice. Sure, Cushing faced the music a little bit on Monday, but Kubiak and Co. dodged the hardball questions. Three days into OTAs and the Cushing story now dead, Johnson shows up.

AJ's reward for going along with the plan will be one heck of a new deal.

Myers worries me a helluva lot more than Caldwell. Caldwell at least has a lot of potential, Myers might be the worst center in the NFL

    Right.

Andre Johnson has been payed most of the money that was on the contract that he agreed to. Now that the contract is reaching the "team-friendly" part, he wants to renegotiate.
