No doubt. Carr at least was a gamer on Sunday's, but too bad he didn't put the extra work in during the week. Jamarcus is the walking example of the need for a rookie wage scale.
Yep, I feel sorry for the Raiders wasting all that money. At the same time, JaMarcus was no stud coming out either. He had questions about how good he could be...honestly, when I saw him play at LSU I thought he was a gutsy player that would play hard for them at least. Guess you never know what a guy will do if you give him a bunch of money. One guy might blow it all away on anything he thinks of buying, the other might plan to actually do something with it and hope to make more money. Jamarcus is a good example of what not to do if you're picked #1
Why dont the Texans go after DARREN SHARPER! Nearly two months after the NFL's free-agent signing period kicked off, New Orleans' Pro Bowl safety Darren Sharper is taking his first visit this offseason. Sharper Sharper is scheduled to visit the Jacksonville Jaguars on Wednesday, according to a league source. Jacksonville did not draft a safety last weekend, and Sharper is searching for another opportunity aside from the one he already has in New Orleans. If Jacksonville fails to sign him, don't be surprised if Dallas does. The Cowboys also did not draft a safety last weekend and they released Ken Hamlin before the draft. Dallas is known to be eyeing Sharper. The Cowboys would like to weaken the defending Super Bowl champion Saints while strengthening themselves. Sharper, who intercepted nine passes last season, turns 35 in November and he underwent knee surgery this offseason. But he is expected to be ready in time for training camp. Sharper sat out two regular-season games last season and missed periodic practices because of knee swelling. Still, he tied for the league lead with his nine interceptions -- returning three for scores. Sharper has said he's hoping to return to New Orleans, but is keeping his options open.
sounds like he's testing the water to determine his price. After getting to a couple of offers, he will go to N.O.
Darren Sharper would be Leigh Bodden pt. 2 for us this off-season. He would just give us a visit so that he can gauge his value, and report it back to the Saints. Unless we give him some ludicrous offer, he's not coming here. Also, on a side note, about Ryan Mathews being scared to come here......does anyone else think that it's probably the Fresno State coaching staff that's got him skittish about the Texans? I don't know if anyone else has brought this up, but think about it. David Carr, at Fresno State, was a freaking beast. He had a cannon arm, good pocket poise, and he was a play-maker. Now, imagine if you're the coaching staff at Fresno State, and you're watching your former stud go out there every Sunday, and basically piss on the field. You've gotta be thinking that the Texans are an inept franchise (whether it's true or not is besides the point) who ruined your star player, and turned him into a shell of his former self. I find it very hard to believe that they probably didn't/don't bad-mouth the Texans every chance they get. Ryan Mathews has probably heard his coaching staff talk about the Texans, and he probably feels like if he were to come here, his career would go down the tubes. Forget the fact that this is a completely different team, with a completely different coaching staff.....when someone holds a grudge, rational thinking goes out the window. I could be dead wrong about all of that, but it's just a theory I have as to why Mathews would be so scared to come to a place that he's probably never even been to before.
Good point, though the Texans could turn around and say that they are worried about drafting another Fresno State kid after the work ethic David showed.
Drooling over a man's body? Umm... I'm not so sure how I feel about this DonkeyMost/DonnyMagic arrangement anymore.
Yeah, I meant that if the coaches of Fresno came out and told the media that that's what they had told Matthews (about the Texans not being a good place because of what happened to David Carr here) then we could respond that way. I would want Matt's height, but that would make a hell of a QB.
The DM duo is headed for splittsville?!? Say it ain't so........ Good theory, man. It wouldn't surprise me one bit if Pat Hill filled up Ryan Matthews' head full of negativity towards the Texans based on what happened to Carr. Even thought it's a completely different administration now. The thing is you can't really blame the organization that much if a RB fails. Either a RB can hit the hole and get yards after contact or he can't. Whatever, Ryan Matthews isn't all that and a bag of chips. Chargers overpaid big time in moving up to get him.
Texans minicamp will be held June 14-16. To see a list of when OTAs and minicamps for other teams will occur please click on the link. http://nfllabor.com/2010/04/28/nfl-minicamp-dates-announced/
That's exactly what I'm thinking is going on with him and the Jags. I bet he ends up resigning with New Orleans
I hope Darren Sharper signs with the Texans, but its seems unlikely. He just wants to get a free meal, just like what happened with Bodden
Yeah I would love to see the Texans pick up Darren Sharper. Just seems to me that the Texans front office likes to shy away from "sexy" free agents. Instead we like to build up our team with hard workers and guys who put the team before themselves. I'm not saying Darren Sharper even falls in this category, I just believe that a guy of his stature just wouldn't fit our team first mold very well.
