Was wondering what people thought of the results of the mockdraft so far: 1st round - Earl Thomas, DB, Texas 2nd round - Toby Gerhart, RB, Stanford 3rd round - Jerome Murphy, CB, USF 4th round - Marshall Newhouse, OG, TCU Of course, the drafting strategy was contingent on getting Earl Thomas; if he wasn't there, probably would have taken Kyle Wilson in the 1st and Nate Allen or Chad Jones in the 3rd. But if this is how the Texans draft shakes out, I wouldn't be too mad (of course, I was the mock GM so I shouldn't be mad). Anyone have any thoughts on these 4 picks?
Even though I totally up for drafting Thomas, we did all right with with our DBS playing sur par last year, but the running back position just kiiled us and cost us about 3 games. I wasn't that excited when people kept on saying how Ryan Matthews was a good fit, but the more I read about him the more I think he can be a game changer for us. And if Slaton comes back healthy next year then it will be an added bonuses. So I say. 1st: Matthews 2nd: The best CB avilable 3rd: DT 4: Kicker
I would go for exactly this scenario...Everyone seems to talk about how Matthews is not super fast, but the clips on youtube shows his running style is very sound AND he excels at punching it in near the goal line. That is what put my mind comfortable with him being the 1st rd. choice, if that is to be... and if Slaton rebounds from his injury year, they would complement nicely.
Pollard was tendered as a restricted free agent. We have the ability to match any offer he gets on the market. Nobody has gone after him yet, so I doubt they will at this point.
this whole cba thing has turned this offseason into a real snoozer... oh well, at least none of our direct competition got better... (did they?)
teehee. i love that nickname. although he's a lion now, so i kinda feel more sorry for him than hate him. but yes, i don't see any team in our division having getting better this offseason... at least "better" than we got.
I'd much more prefer a defender in the first round...many of our running issues were also due to a depleted offensive line. We werent at full strength and it showed. Get the OLine healthy and the running game will get better. No need to spend a 1st on a RB if a good DB is available when we're picking.
No reason to feel bad for him. It's not like he got traded. Vanderpu**y went there on his own accord as a free agent. He, and only he, is responsible for that brand of stupidity.
Well, the Jaguars signed DE Aaron Kampman as their big splash. I don't know if it necessarily makes them MUCH better, but it definitely helps their pass rush.
The problem is that they have not addressed any of the oline problems either He sucked last year, Detroit giving him that kinda money was moronic No one in our division, but teams the Texans are competing with for payoffs spots certainly did (Ravens, Jets, etc)
I don't like the guy but "sucked" is a bit much. His sack numbers were down, but his tackles werent that bad. He certainly wasnt as effective as he was with Haynesworth in the middle taking up those extra blockers and he certainly isnt worth that contract
I agree...thats why it really doesnt matter who we have in the backfield...we'll struggle with the run if we dont upgrade or avoid injuries to the OLine.
Now this is a story all about how my bank account and playing time flipped upside down and i'd like take a minute just sit right there i'll tell you how i got a fat check from a fool named McNair the Kasas City cheifs is where i last played on the bench watching plays is how i spent most of the games chillin out max and warming the wood and waiving at the cheerleaders, they look soo good then a couple of plays and my teammate got hurt. suddenly the coach called my number and there stood. it was a contract year so i was a bit scared until my agent said don't worry the Texans have McNair i walked inside the offices and saw the GM i said i was a good guy and i'd work hard for them if anything i'd say this team is rare they overpay Free agents thank God for McNair i signed on the dotted line, hell yeah i got paid and i welled to my agent, "good job, pay ya later" I'm now a Texan! D-lineman beware all thanks to that rich man Mr. Bob McNair.
