Barwin and Cushing are a lot of fun to watch. Those guys just fly around the field. Cushing has incredible lateral speed and Barwin has an impressive first step.
Is there a possibility that the Texans still sign a CB in free agency or are we really going to draft a DB in the first round? I mean Ken Lucas, Lito Sheppard and Fred Smoot are still out there. Three expierenced players that could play right away next to a guy like Glover Quinn. And they could also teach the young DB's that we have today a little bit. What do you think? Sign a CB/DB in free agency or draft a few (probably already one in the 1st round).
I am sure they will draft a DB in the first 2 rounds to go along with Quin, Reeves, McCain, and Molden. I love Kyle Wilson from Boise State. I am sure they have taken a look all the free agent DBs but at this time there probably asking for a lot of money or the Texans aren't just interested in them.
All 3 have fallen off and probably aren't starting material anymore. Nickle or Dime packages, fine, but I don't think you sign them unless you come up empty in the draft.
http://www.chron.com/disp/story.mpl/sports/6936629.html Texans lock up linebacker Ryans with new six-year deal The Texans have signed middle linebacker DeMeco Ryans to a six-year contract. Ryans, who was unable to get a new contract done last year, would have been a fifth-year restricted free agent making $3.168 million next season. General manager Rick Smith and agent Ben Dogra negotiated for several days to get the new deal done. Ryans, who turns 26 in July, is the Texans’ defensive captain who has been a starter since the first game of his rookie year in 2006 when he was a second-round pick behind defensive end Mario Williams. Last season, when the Texans finished with a team-best 9-7 record, Ryans had 123 tackles, including 93 unassisted. He played a key role in the development of strong-side linebacker Brian Cushing, who was voted NFL Defensive Rookie of the Year. Ryans and Cushing were voted to the Pro Bowl.
Just came across this old video of Benard Pollard.....all I could say was DAMN! <object width="480" height="385"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/XJKdpsZi_10&hl=en_US&fs=1&"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/XJKdpsZi_10&hl=en_US&fs=1&" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="480" height="385"></embed></object>
Uprising- Also, I think that is Marion Barber that he lays that hit on, which is even more impressive.
I came across this Bernard Pollard vid on youtube <object width="480" height="385"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/3HDhEjBnk3M&hl=en_US&fs=1&"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/3HDhEjBnk3M&hl=en_US&fs=1&" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="480" height="385"></embed></object>
Ya, I saw that....but thought against posting it lol. I didn't know exactly how to feel, so I watched the Pollard jacking the kid in that College Video instead. lol.
BP was such a great pick up last season...we lucked out with that. Get a bunch of fierce guys like him and Cushing and you'll have a defense that brings terror. Love it.
Mario, Barwin, Okoye (he's underperforming as a first round pick, but is an okay player), Cushing, Ryans, and Pollard are a nice core for the defense. I'm not too worried about the defense as it improved greatly as the season went on. I would like a stud corner to give the pass rush more time or a ballhawk to pair with Pollard to keep quin and Reeves from looking too bad.
The Texans re-signed DE Tim Bulman. Bulman was a restricted free agent. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.
Damn. Just noticed the post right after mine with the video saying that too. That's awesome. Barber would have had a longer run and not get jacked like that had he let his blocker lead him lol. Benard is the shiznit. Great pick up for the Texans. To think he was just cast away by the Chiefs.
