I cant really think of anyone big other than Mason. Boldin is by far the best talent theyve had at WR in a while. Plus, Flacco is definitely becoming a solid QB now, so they actually have someone that can make the throw. I like the Walter contract...cost us less than it cost the Lions to get Burleson. Lol.
Yea i was thinking the same thing. I think it's more like EVERY offseason you hear everyone talk about the Ravens needing a big time receiver and they just never had the ability to get one until now
There goes the FA running back I was hoping for us to sign... http://www.cbssports.com/mcc/blogs/entry/10714917/20313020 Man the Lions are being pretty active this offseason
Over 4 million a year for a guy who can easily be replaced. Typical Texans, overpaying for mediocre players.
That is not 100% done deal just some Sports Illustrated writer's prediction. http://www.detnews.com/article/2010...ones-will-sign-with-Lions--SI-writer-predicts
You have got to be kidding (maybe you were being sarcastic?). First, people were ready to jump off of a ledge when there were talks of losing him ... and now we're overpaying him at $7 million guaranteed? We got a steal with this deal. Almost a Morey-esque deal. Kevin Walter is everything you want in a #2 receiver across from a great. You can't go into camp banking on Jacoby Jones being consistent next year.
Definately should have read the article haha. I saw it on another Texans forum, my bad. Nice to see another Red Raider on here though! How bout we see a 5th round pick on Tech's Guard Brandon "Mankind" Carter. He doesnt really fit our system but he'll show guys like Chris "Ragdoll" Myers how to be tenacious and physical
I hope youre kidding because that was a great contract for what he brings to the table and how he fits in with our team. On another note...Dansby breaking the bank just made DeMeco's price sky rocket. Im not too happy about that because Dansby will be getting 22 million guaranteed. IMO, that is way too much...meaning, DeMeco will now probably want a 5 year deal for 48 million, with 25 million guaranteed. Ugh...that wouldnt be good. Also, 27 mil guaranteed to Dunta...L.O.L. @falcons.
Yeah, they've tried, they just fail. They briefly acquired TO but that fell apart and he got to go to Philly instead. He was the last "big name" WR they had a shot at.
On the list of things to do, i didnt think walters was up there. He's solid, but solid isnt really good enough. When teams use their best corner and roll coverage to andre, walters cant make them pay and the texans struggle offensively. I wouldve let jones take the job or sign a guy like bryant and let anderson work those option routes.
Walter is a very solid #2 receiver who could be starting for over half the teams in the league. He's great in run blocking and hardly drops anything. He's not a homerun hitter, but that isn't what he's supposed to do. Edit* The only real argument here is that the Texans are deep at WR, so why bother... but anybody remember how many injuries we had at WR in 2008? Weren't we starting David Anderson at one point? Being able to go 5 deep for such a pass oriented offense is not a bad thing.
I know right? How freakishly huge is that SOB? Man, we haven't had any beef in the middle since Gary freakin' Walker.
The Texans offense does not suffer because Kevin Walter is the no. 2 receiver. He runs routes with the best of them, and he's a first down machine, always making clutch catches. If anything, remember how the texans missed him the first couple of games he missed due to injury. On a related note, kyle vanden Douche is far gone from the afc south. Got to count that as a great texans addition. Sadly, the colts resigned brackett.
