Given his choice, LaDainian Tomlinson would sign with Houston. But Texans haven't fared well with veteran backs, so deal there not likely http://twitter.com/ADAM_SCHEFTER
I wouldn't mind having LT for the right price AND if he understood his role, which would be a part time player who would probably be the short yardage guy. I dont like how people are saying we failed with aging running backs. Although this is true, situations like Ahman Green's was different. Green was brought in to be THE FEATURE back that would get the bulk of the carries. In this case with LT, he wouldn't be brought in for that, so the expectations would have to change
Watching NFL Total Access tonight they said Gary Kubiak will not attend the scouting combine. He had nose surgery to relieve his sleep apnea. He's supposed to have a procedure on his throat as well.
Yeah, he's made of glass. Just another reason to go after Cowher, the dude has never missed a combine.
so they both sucked? could you elaborate on this for the undereducated among us (like myself)? for example, is more CB tackles a bad thing for your defense (as in too many run plays getting into the deep secondary; too many deep completed passes) or just a bad reflection on the CB? no smart-alecking intended here; legitimately asking.
A lot of the time it means that the DB is terrible in coverage, they are letting their man catch the ball a lot and having to take them down. Sometimes it means they are great against the run, but I don't think that is the case with any CB on the Texans
WOW. After the history Texans have had, I wouldn't want an aging back either....BUT LT. If the contract is right, why not. Brings in a veteran, which is good for the players....and hopefully maybe he'll have one of those seasons to PROVE something.
LT is an all-time great, bringing him in is substantially different than bringing in Green or Brown. That being said, you only do it if it is cheap
It's happening tomorrow. Btw, I'm perfectly fine with signing LT to the right contract. Replacing Brown with LT will be an upgrade bc he can atleast find the endzone.
Casey Hampton is expected to re-sign with the Steelers, possibly a franchise tag. I believe I heard that Wilfork will be tagged by New England too. Don't know that we were willing to spend for them, but either would have been nice.
Hampton is signing a 3 yr deal. It seems like he could have been had or maybe he just took a paycut to remain with the Steelers. They are actually tagging their kicker Reed. EDIT: I'm hearing that we could possibly convert Earl Thomas to a CB. That sounds like the ideal option for us. Hope he slips to us!
Schefter is reporting that St. Louis is gonna take Bradford and Detroit is willing to deal the #2 pick. Should the Texans move up for Suh?
I think it's going to cost wayy too much. In assuming that you deal two first round picks (at least, this years and next years), you can have two extremely solid players (worst case) instead of one player that could be great. I'd take the extra depth. Unless we're coming off a Super Bowl victory, and have absolutely no holes do I deal for a pick like that. That's just me, though.
As much as I would love to have Suh, the cost would be astronomical...couple first rounders mixed in with maybe a 2nd or 3rd rounder. If we had a top 12 pick, then moving up would be much easier...but at 20, the price is too steep.
Texans reach contract agreement with DelJuan Robinson http://www.examiner.com/examiner/x-...with-Deljuan-Robinson?cid=sharing_twitter:778 The Texans have agreed to a contract extension with defensive tackle DelJuan Robinson, according to the team's official website. Terms of the deal are not currently available. For a minute I thought about using a headline along the lines of 'Texans agree to terms with D-Rob,' but given the circumstances of the past few days I thought it was best to not go there. Robinson gained notoriety early last season for his self glossed "Temp 66" and the unusual number he wears as a defensive tackle. He's one of those hard working guys on the lower end of the NFL pay scale that you like to root for. Robinson flashed in 2008 but you didn't hear his name as much last season, in part due to knee and calf injuries. Robinson (6-3, 320) will turn 26 in July and was an exclusive rights free agent, meaning he had an expiring contract and less than three accrued seasons.. He has appeared in 27 games with three starts for the Texans over the past two seasons, primarily in a backup role to Amobi Okoye.
i don't think we should draft a DT unless we're getting a jewel here. Okoye is young and i personally think he'll have his breakout year. we are in dire need for a couple of CB's, we should get them through the draft a la Bengals, draft a FS, OL, RB, and then a DT or a DE. we need skill players in the worst way.
Suh is supposed to be one of those players that makes a difference. once in a decade type of players. Reggie White type of player, but the price will be too steep, i'd rather trade up for Berry.
i like it, if he's there. if not, draft mays, draft the most talented defensive back and find a spot for him. we all know, the only position we're comfortable with is the SS, and we're not too comfortable there either.
