That's exactly how I see it too. Anything can happen in the NFL, teams can have completely different seasons back to back.

I believe the Texans are only going up....I expect the Texans to win the games they lost at the goal line....last second etc....if they can, which I'm sure they are working hard to fix, fix the running game.

Also need some linemen....

Hopefully K. Brown will get his mojo back, last season was a nightmare.

But, gotta stay optimistic....

Already excited about Sundays...lol.

Slaton's recovery from discectomy will take 4-6 months. LINK

Scary sound procedure. This could very well have been cause for his fumbling problems and poor season in general. The condition involved a nerve root pressing on the spine (ouch).

I think this pretty much guarantees that we take a RB in the first three rounds. We've never been in a position without a guy that we at least THOUGHT would be the starter going in (still had high hopes for Ahman Green when we drafted Slaton).

Gary Kubiak has completed his coaching staff by hiring Marc Lubick as an offensive assistant.

Lubick ,32, replaces Matt LaFleur, who followed offensive coordinator Kyle Shanahan to Washington. He coached tight ends and was recruiting coordinator at Colorado State.

Before returning to Colorado State, Lubick spent five years as a scouting assistant and receivers coach with the St. Louis Rams. He'll work with two new coaches, offensive coordinator Rick Dennison and quarterbacks coach Greg Knapp.

Earl Thomas is cool, but don't you think resigning Pollard who is only 25-26 years old mind you, and draft a CB or DT in the first round and RB in the second? But it would be awesome if they pick Thomas with the first, and that Toby guy in the 2nd, a DT in the 3rd and a kicker in the 4th.

But I've been reding in some people's mock draft, that they have us picking Dez Bryant with our first pick. I don't think its a good pick for us because we already have Andre, Walter, and Jones. Picking him over a need I think would set the team back a couple of years. What I've seen in the NFL so many times, when you try to put 2 star WRs on one team it don't usually work out.

I'm in the same boat that Pollard is a more than capable SS and we shouldn't burn a pick on that position .

Dez is interesting. Although the texans have had a great passing attack, getting a guy to help lighten the load off andre couldnt hurt.

It's always one of those questions...draft need or best player. Unfortunately the texans are in the spot where they just can't afford to ignore need

Thomas wouldn't be replacing Pollard in the starting lineup, he would be replacing Eugene Wilson. A depth chart of Thomas/Wilson/Busing/Barber is WAY better than Wilson/Busing/Barber. If Wilson goes down again, well, we know how quickly the Free Safety position goes down the drain. I'm hoping we draft Thomas in the first and a corner in the second where there could be some pretty good guys there.

I think Thomas is a FS type, and putting him and Pollard on the back line would be huge for that defense. Considering that no one projects a CB worth being drafted that high to be available, I'd rather get Thomas and still shore up the secondary and get a CB later on.

I'd be ok with a DT also, but if Thomas falls, I'd go for him. Value pick at a position of need.

Dez Bryant..no thanks. Can't see them going for that one. AGree w/your thoughts on that--whose mock is showing that pick?

Colts had Harrison & Wayne. Worked out well for them.

Bryant at 19/20 would be a steal. Big, fast, & electric.

As long as AJ gets his 100 catches a season I'm happy. The Texans actually had a really good splitting of throws over the other receivers. Walter had around 50 and OD (despite half a season) Andersen, and Steve had about 40 each. Adding another threat is always a good thing, but we have plenty of weapons that don't deserve to have less balls thrown their way. Also, if the Texans gain even a competent running game, I see Kubiak going back to his run first mentality.

If it comes to choosing between him and Thomas, I'd say go for the safety. At least in this current NFL, your defense doesnt even need to be above average to go deep into the playoffs. Also Houston teams like to go undersized, so 5'10" 200# just feels right. If he falls that far.

except they already have the best receiver in the NFL and a top 5 TE along with plenty of good role playing receivers. It is not like this team does not have weaknesses. Wasting a first rounder on a position of strength would be a waste when there is so much need at FS or even DT.

20. Houston Texans—Dez Bryant, WR, Oklahoma State

Houston has had some issues with it's offensive line and running game, so adding a stud offensive lineman or running back to help the cause could be the main focus here.

However, when Andre Johnson constantly receives double-teams, a receiver like Bryant left on the board becomes fairly tempting.

If Bryant can make any kind of an impact right away, it would free up Johnson, Kevin Walter, and a hopefully healthy Owen Daniels. If the passing game gets that good, the running game would fix itself, right?

Perhaps, but if Gary Kubiak isn't sold on that happening, he could bring in the versatile one-man wrecking crew, Toby Gerhart.
