A quarterback? From my lifetime? As you can see, I have a different way of going about this than others here! :)

"Scouts say in spring camps he was timed at 4.30, then 4.28. he had to one up his one teammate. "

For all the talk about Bush's speed, 4.4 isn't all that great. Don't get me wrong, it is still plenty fast, but there was so much talk about him being one of the fastest players ever. There was also a ton of talk about how he cannot be caught from behind, something DD is incapable of.

Oh wait, that was a Bush-hater.

I have no idea. We need more hints.

The question is absurd. So far the "hints" are that he is/was a football player, that race wasn't an issue, and that it was an absurd comparison.

That narrows the field to 10,000.

    Bucky Richardson?

Agent Leigh Steinberg had a good analogy for the Texans and their draft.

He said the Texans owning the first pick is like someone owning a leaky house, and all of the sudden they inherit a lot of money. Now do you use that money to go buy a Rolls Royce(Reggie Bush) to put in front of that house, or do you use it to plug up the multiple leaks?
    -----------------

I personally would get the Rolls Royce(Reggie Bush) to pull some hoes(fans). :)

Don Shula and VY were just on the radio with Dan Patrick.

Dan asked Don who he would take with the first pick and he said without a doubt he would take Vince.

My guess for RM95's trivia question is

    THE FRIDGE.

There really is no question...you have to gamble on Vince, he has the greatest potential of the 2.

There has never been a QB with all his skills EVER in pro football.....

    Got to take him.

Don and VY on with Dan?

Were they on at the same time?

I can't see Don saying he'd take anyone else with Vince sitting right there. :)

Don Shula and Bill Walsh have both said they would take Vince Young.

Bill Walsh said something like " Eventually, football minds will prevail and realize you take the franchise QB"

But I am sure that those of you that agree with IC20 are right and these 2 WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP coaches don't know squat.

Shuck Vince and Bush, take Reggie McNeal, right IC2?

I am not sure this graph shows what you want: let's add the Superbowl appearences and victories for these franchise players.

For running backs picked overall #1: ZERO and ZERO

For quarterbacks picked overall #1: 14 apparences, 11 VICTORIES.

Even great running backs like Campbell and OJ couldn't carry their team to the superbowl. Guys like OJ, Payton and Sanders, as great as they were, were on many flat lousy teams. Far more lousy teams than your Elways, Montanas, Marinos, Staubachs, Farves, etc. A great QB can do more with crap to mediocrity around him (see Elway's early superbowl slaughtered Broncos teams and Marinos teams) than a great running back can. The evidence is just overwhelming.

I guess Reggie McNeal is as fast as a Deion Sanders and Darrell Green in their primes, very impressive. Relatively few NFL players run sub 4.4's electronically timed in controlled conditions (like the combine). Low 4.3s is absolutely blazing, the fasted ever recorded (guys like Deion and Green) are probably high 4.2s.

You should take all unofficial 40 times with a grain of salt. Like I said if Bush runs a legit 4.4 at the combine that won't hurt him. Mark Clayton always seemed a step faster than everyone else in the open field, and he ran officially a 4.43. Anything faster than 4.4 is gravy for Bush.

    BTW, no right answer yet.

    He's a current player.

And sorry it's too hard for you to guess FFB.
