Can we change the debate to Bush, Young, or Cutler now? :D

Scar, I go way back and I have a bit of perspective on this. Gale Sayers really stands out because he was fast when being fast was not as common as it is now. But to me, it depends on what attribute you wish to concentrate on when you try to compare athletes form differnt eras. For example, if you looked for a RB with sprinter speed who could break open a game, then (I really hate to say this but) OJ and Tony Dorsett were the best two I have ever seen. If you wanted a back with the best combo of speed and power, then you are looking at Bo Jackson and Earl Campbell (Earl was just wickedly strong while Bo was wickedly fast). if you are looking at a pure runner with elusiveness then it's Barry Sanders. If you're looking at a power back then it's John Riggins and Larry Csonka. As for QB, the two best I have seen are Johnny Unitas and Dan Marino. As you say, it all depends on what standards you wish to apply to the term "greatest ever".

I certainly didn't, but the poster said Bush fills a need at RB, in which I responded the fact that we dont' have a need for one.

Why? Because he said a couple nice things about Carr? Even if he didn't think highly of Carr, you think he would come out in his first press conference and say so?

Today's press conference was all about saying the right things, if you want to bend every little thing he says your way, that's fine. But I don't think Kubiak or McNair know what they want to do yet.

BS! Did you listen to the interview? They were talking about the future, Kubiak is looking forward to working with Carr, developing Carr.
No. It was way more than that. I'm doubting you listened, seriously.

Chance also mentioned in his post that from what he heard, they aren't drafting a quarterback, he works for 610. He met them and heard them talking.

    true.

although it doesn't hurt that he could be used as a WR or even a TE on some plays.

I don't know if anyone else caught this...

I caught part of "Quie Frankly" today when they had Ladanian Tomlinson on.

Stephen A. asked him about Bush and he said that he can beat you from anywhere on the field. Is a great athlete who could be a great WR if he wanted to, but he wants to be a RB and will be good at that also.

He was then asked "Since you are from down there, if you were the Texans, who would you pick; Young, Bush or Leinart?"

He said they should pick Bush. He talked about how good it would be having Davis and Bush in the backfield or Bush lined up as a WR, along with Andre Johnson out there as well. Then said "I don't think the book is closed on David Carr."

    Anyway, I found it interesting.

That still doesn't negate the fact that Kubiak is inclined to say nice things about Carr and about the organization.

Look, I'm not saying we'll draft VY and I'm not saying we'll draft Bush. I'm just saying that of course Kubiak will say nice things about Carr. Kubiak probably is looking forward to working with Carr because right now, Carr is our QB, but like he said on PTI: Carr and Draft decision are 2 seperate evaluations. Exactly what decision on Carr must be made? Full evaluations will be made, he'll probably watch every snap these 2 ever took in college, talk to all the coaches they played for and played against, he'll watch them workout, and he'll probably sit down with the both of them and have a chat. A lot has to be done in the next 3 months, a lot of things can happen.

Anyways, good to hear that Kubiak's officially here. No matter who we'll draft, I'll still support the Texans. I just personally think drafting Vince Young is the better option for this franchise.

Not to question his sincerity, but he did work out with Reggie last off season. So, I would think they're close.

Really? I didn't know that. But, his comments about Bush didn't surprise me all that much. It was that last comment about Carr was what I found the most interesting for some reason.

Reggie at TE? You gotta be kidding me. Nothing against Reggie, but he isn't all that great of a blocker. . . he'll most likely be a RB and WR. He may return a few punts, but we already have a good punt returner

I think you responded to the wrong person. I was asking someone else who he was referring to at TE. RB's don't play TE.

I think you missed something. let me clarify. Bush/Carr for their #1, their second round pick, their number one next year and maybe even one of their players that could help us now.

Back in Oct. I watched Bush play and I told my kids he will be the most over-hyped player in the draft if he comes out.

After watching him play 2 more times my opinion hasn't changed.

He is great in space. Something he won't have in the NFL.

He is an average running back in tight qtrs. He does not break tackles.

One of the best in the open field I have ever seen. But he is a 'tweener for the pros.

He will be the Randy Moss of running backs.

No way I would use the #1 pick on him if I could get 4 first day draft picks for that pick- do it.

    Just trade the pick.
