[Official] Reggie Bush or Someone else -- Vince Young out of running

Highlight reels are overblown, Heisman's are based on such things.

I am more interested to see the impact of players every down and every touch. What do they do with poor blocking, what do they do with OK but not great blocking. What do they do when something unexpected happens. What do they do in pressure situations and against defenses that more resemble pro defenses in player speed and schemes.

VY was simple dominant and incredible over the course of the season and culminated in dominating the NC game. As the comp got better (also last year's Mich game, this years OSU game, this years OU game) and the pressure got higher he just more distinguished himself as man among boys on the field. Was he perfect and did he have great games every time, no, but he was the most special player to play college football that a lot of nuetral observers have seen in a long time, if ever.

 

you know after watching the games and different highlights, i think vince young is a better "in-between-the-tackles" runner than reggie bush.

but reggie bush isn't as good a qb as vince

 

Can anyone dig up a video of Vince highlights against Texas A&M this year? The worst ranked defense in Div 1 college football? I'd like to see them, I missed that game. Thanks.

 

Because 1 bad game means that he cannot possibly be a good or great player in the NFL...

Obviously Texas (they did not lose this year), Vince sure did not help that game though. Rod Wright and the special teams saved the season.

If I see this again , I may throw up. Why would Reggie Bush get the ball on 4th and 2? Considering: you have another 1st round pick who is a POWER running back, who has already converted this situation in the game, who was having a dominant game. This is like complaining that Steve Smith/ Tiki Barber/ Warrick Dunn isn't on the field in that situation. If its a short yardage situation who would get the ball Charles or Melton? Vince Young would have been on the field for fourth and two but all he would have done is handed it to melton. What is the difference? If you don't want Reggie Bush fine, but don't use this situation ever again.

They were trying to run out the clock, they did not need a huge run. They just needed a first down. Lendale White was a better option in that situation. Its like having Ced Benson/ Reggie Bush; if you need a couple yards or are trying to run clock your best sure thing option is benson.

I'm cool with stopping it, but you weren't asking reggietodd to "stop" when he was throwing the insults toward Vince... you only started when I said something about Reggie. Doesn't sound like you want it to stop period... sounds like you just want it to stop when it's applied toward Reggie.

 

running out the clock? they passed on 2nd down. they had two backs in the backfield. neither one was named bush.
