    No, more than opinion.

I would say it is reasonable and logical-

David Carr has been in the league for 4 seasons and has yet to put any pressure on a defense solely based upon his playmaking ability. Making huge 3 rd down plays, executing in the red zone, sustaining drives with big plays from his position.

I would start Vince Young over David Carr tomorrow because Vince Young will make plays. He will exert his will on the game and he will do it with his arm, decision making and his scrambling ability. I am absolutely confident that it will much more difficult for an NFL defense to scheme against VY than it is to scheme against Carr. Vince is a weapon, leader threat that Carr isn't.

If Reggie Bush is the running back that Dominique Davis is (1000 yd+) with good power inside, making tough yards, breaking tackles- he will be very successful. Bush has the explosive speed to make some long runs that Davis can't make. But Davis has the power, quickness and elusiveness to break tackles, read the cut back lane and get the 4-5 yard carries that are so necessary to sustain drives and cause defenses to respect the run. I give Bush a slight edge just because he has big play ability and DD has to be healthy.

You give me a choice between VY and DD or Carr and Bush.

I would have a very hard time not building my franchise around VY-DD.

The only thing that would make me hestitate at all is DD injury problems.

My opinion is based upon all players being healthy.

Rhester that is exactly what I have been saying all along.

Nothing against Reggie Bush, and I hope he works out well for the Texans, but having a mismatch at the QB position would be a massive advantage for any team.

Carr may indeed be a servicable QB, but Young has the chance to revolutionize the position.

How can you not take a chance to get the most exciting QB prospect ever? The guy can run, pass, avoid pressure, take a hit? He is amazing, and to top it all off, he is one helluva leader.

The Texans have made their choice, but history shows that their choices have been WAY below average.......same thing here.

    Jeff,

This is a good post. Let's play around a little bit and say that both players end up being the best at their position.

Which would you rather have leading your team, a dominant RB, or a dominant QB?

This is what it boils down to for me, not Bush vs Vince, but QB vs RB.

Personally, I think you have to dare to be great, and taking a QB that gives the defense fits is a better choice. Unless Bush can throw the ball too, then it is all even.

    :D

I'd rather have a RB that is so special and versatile that he actually makes other skilled positions better...I don't believe Carr will be as "special" as Vince Young when it is all said and done, but Reggie Bush's prescence will make DD better ala white, he will make the QB better, he will make the WR better...In addition he enhances the special teams...There will be less pressure on the Defense since the Texans will have the tools to control the clock better offensively.....

Like the goonies, Carr is good enough for me,...Carr just didn't have the right players or coaching scheme around him. Joe Montana would have had it rough with what the Texans surrounded Carr with the first years...But now with better schemes...with utilizing existing position players better...Carr will make huge strides!...I really envision the Texans gaining so much that they should win 8 games this upcoming season. I feel that strongly about it.

The bottom line is that we will be fun to watch...I can't wait to follow the team and the acqusition of Bush as we go up, and up....

Fair enough, I just think the Texans had enough talent to do something but lacked a true leader, someone to make the machine go......and that falls on Carr on the field, IMHO.

As for RB's leading the team, I just feel the QB has more options at his disposal and would rather have my leader there.

anybody listening to Casserly on 610 this morning? Lance just totally went off on the people calling to b**** about us not drafting Vince, and said that if one more person calls with a VY comment that he is hanging up on them. It would be nice if people called our GM and asked questions about someone we might actually draft.

How many times did he cough during his rant? Did he do it as some sort of annoying impression?

To bad it wasn't a mentally challenged person calling in. They're fine and dandy with that.

callers are alot of times the worst part of any sports show. they rehash the same comments, suggest stupid trade ideas, and sometimes talk about something that was written in an article from some obscure newspaper by some teenager as if it had any credence.

i guess that's alot of us here. ;)

What if New Orleans takes Young at #2 then moves to San Antonio?

    Everyone would be happy right?

i'd be happier if they stayed in NOLA. i really like the saints in NOLA..always have. if they moved to SA, there'd be the whole inter-state rivalry thing i'd rather not see with VY.
