So? Fresno State is a mid-major team, so he's not going to have the talent around him to win a championship or high-level bowl like Vince did. Just because the team around a particular player is mediocre doesn't mean that player isn't any good - look at Jay Cutler, Mario Williams, D'Brickashaw Ferguson, Haloti Ngata, Vernon Davis and other highly-rated players in this year's draft.

Updawg and Max, yall are bigger people than me. I agree 100% with everything except I will hold a grudge. If that means to some I was never a fan so be it. My hometown pride is greater for a local kid than for a franchise entering its 5th season. Yes I am biased and I am not going to deny it. I hope that if VY played for another college, I would be just as angry. If people want to turn this into a UT vs. Texans thing so be it as well. The Texans passed on Simms for Ragone and I was not angry. The Texans traded down past Derrick Johnson and I was not angry.

    See yall on Saturday.

Like others, I grew up an Oilers fan and a Bud Adams hater. Texans have not filled that void. If they had drafted Vince, I'm fairly certain I would have become a Texans fan. Now, they'll be interesting, I'll probably root for them when they show up on TV, but beyond that, probably not much. This is happening to a lesser extent with the Rockets and Astros as all the guys I grew up watching have retired and time tends to take away the energy and thrills one can get from watching sports. Vince is a guy that has "it" like few I've ever seen, so again, him on a Houston football team would have made me a fan again.

That was one game and didn't get them anywere.

A big game is a bowl game, or the playoffs or the Superbowl.

You sound like an Aggie who only wants to beat Texas and doesn't care about anything else. That isn't the way to build a championship team.

If thats what it takes to finally put the delusion to an end, yes. Resigning Carr didn't do it, listening to kubiak & the texans organization didn't do it, listening to Kas who is an insider didn't do it, etc. etc. etc.

Perhaps a change in the thread title will? The debate of who will we draft stops here. The debate on who we should have drafted could possibly go on forever.

You're wrong. Unlike you, I don't resort to rediculous desperate assumptions.

I'll be happy to discuss why I prefer Bush, but I doubt you would listen.

IIRC, the original title was "who you WANT the Texans to draft," not "who they will draft." But it's not like it matters anyways.

You obviously thought this debate was over before it even started, so why did you come back all these times?

Wow. You seriously just made something up. There was never a thread title named that.

I didn't "think" it was over, I knew the VY part of it was over, but the Bush vs. Someone else still isn't over. Hence the name change. I kept coming back beause I needed to let the VY crazies know that, well, they were crazy to think the Texans were even considering a quarterback after the resigned Carr.

Reginald, as somebody who has openly CAMPAIGNED for this threads closure on a repeated basis, for the purported benefit of society, though more likely in an effort to STIFLE your critics - I hereby INDICT you as an ACCESSORY TO MADNESS and find you JOINTLY AND SEVERALLY LIABLE by REPEATEDLY re-joining the fray.

Your sacrifices will not bring you accolades, but SCORN.

Could I somehow grab Bush in the 3rd with all the Texan nuttz I play FF with...

What was it then reggie? I remember the title being somewhere along the lines of "Who SHOULD the Texans draft," it was never "who they will draft."

The Jets restructed Pennington and signed Ramsey, yet there are rumors that they want Leinart, I guess that makes everyone in the Jets organization crazy huh reggie?

I think a playoff appearance or even a win might change that. That's why I want Bush. I think it will happen faster with him. We need it asap.

I guess I will add my .02$ worth, if for no other reason than to have a post in the mother of all threads.

I am dissapointed that the Texans are taking Bush. I don't hate him at all. I understand that he grades out higher than everyone else. However, I have much reservation. I think he, like every other running back in the NFL will be playing dinged up most of the time. People complain that DD gets hurt too much. Despite the fact he has missed some games, he still had 3 very productive seasons. Bush will get hit in the NFL and he will get hurt, unless he is extraordinarily lucky. If we were picking a few spots down and got Bush, I would not have much of a problem with that. Running backs get hurt and do not have long careers, with a very few exceptions.

We hear this pick is McNair's. So far, he has shown very little to have confidence in. I suspect that the current state of the team is mostly McNair's responsibility. He hired the GM and the coaches and so far, you have to say he is a failure on the football field. I suspect he had lots of input in drafting Carr #1. McNair is a great businessman, but his football team sucks.

I'm afraid that by the time the Texans develop into a good team, Bush may well be past his prime, while Vince will be just coming into his. I don't care much for this immediate impact rationale. I was an Oiler fan since before Pete Bethard was QB I suffered thru many bad seasons before they finally developed a good team, in spite of Bud Adams incompetence.

I hope the rest of the draft goes well for the Texans, because they need to get good in a hurry to take advantage of Bush's talents while they can.

FWIW, I'm a UH grad and I've paid for NFL Sunday Ticket the last 3 years only to watch the Texans games. I guess the Texans don't need fans like me.

I guess so. Why are "fans" being so affected by a draft pick? Some of you guys seem to only look at the Reggie Bush negatives, and the Vince Young positives. From reading a lot of posts it seems that VY supporters can't picture Reggie being successful at all. It may turn out that Vince was the better pick after all. But what if it turns out that VY was a bust and Reggie becomes a superstar? Or what if Reggie and Vince both become superstars, and both their teams become successful?

We really can't tell how what will happen, but all I know is that it's all about winning. And if the Texans feel Reggie Bush is the guy to do it, then I'll support their pick along with the other fans, coaches, GMs, and analysts. I won't quit on the team when something doesn't go my way. Because I know that they were trying to do what's best for the team, even if their pick was wrong.

it's not the fact that VY supporters want VY so badly that irks me. it's the fact that some VY supporters are claiming they will severe all ties with the Texans just b/c of a draft pick.

i want the Texans to draft Bush b/c i feel he will be more of a benefit to the team. If the Texans decide to draft VY on Saturday, i'm gonna be upset over it but i'm not going to totally disregard the team b/c of it. i'm still rooting my ass off b/c it's the freakin' Texans, a Houston team.
