They won't lose any fan base if they win. That's the bottom line, we could pick VY, suck and we'd still lose the fan base. Winning brings fans, not players. Look at the Rockets, Yao brought great attendance his first season but once we started sucking the stadium was pretty damn empty.

I don't hate Bush. I love VY. Not only cause he's a Longhorn. Cause he's from freakin Houston Texas!!! The hometown kid who played in the Dome for Madison in the playoffs, won a national title for the University of Texas, dissed by the Texans. We all watched VY grow up. That angers me. When the Rockets dissed Rashard, I was pissed, but the Rockets are a great organization that have given the city lots of memories. And Rashard was no where near the player VY is.

You're right I never was a "real" Texans fans.

Bush should make anybody forget about Vince Young. Especially since Bush will make an impact right away, whereas Vince will likely ride the pine for a few years.

Fair enough. so you'll be rooting for the Texans to lose now b/c they are not drafting VY? makes a lot of sense.

Instead of doing that you might want to consider getting a life.

Honestly, I had never even heard of Vince Young until 2 seasons ago. I didn't even know he was from Houston until last year. There are LOTS of players in all sports that are from Houston. Big deal. If you clearly grade one player as better than another, you don't draft the player you think isn't as talented just because he is from the town where you play.

Talent can be debated, but hometown preference is just stupid if you are trying to build a winning franchise.

I was kind of hoping for Vince but knew that wasn't going to happen a few months ago. The appeal of a hometown kid playing for the TEXANS grew on me despite the fact that I'm not even a longhorn or really a VY fan

But Bush is my top choice when I think of this from a football point of view. How can you guys not get excited about this guy? Even if your the biggest VY fan you gotta admit Bush is a treat to watch. He's going electricfy any stadium he goes to. He's a heisman trophy winner, national champion and I bet he's already one of the most popular players in the league before he even plays a down.

Vince might be great but Bush is the right choice. This offense is stacked with Reggie and can realisticly compete this year for a playoff spot. If they draft Vince than we're pretty much starting over something the real fans dont want any part of. Reggie gives us a chance to win right now if he is 1/2 good as what he hyped up to be. At the very least we will have one of the most exciting players in the league.

I wish Vince all the luck in the world as (assuming hes not a titan) but Reggie is the right pick.

I bet in Reggie's debut he will wear "713" across his eyes. And we can all be happy right????

Perhaps. But Carr's mistakes will bring it all back.

This is great. The VY fans are showing their true colors, melting down. This long epic thread is starting to be worth it after all. Everything is documented in this bad boy. The VY fans now just want a moral victory for us to draft Mario Williams. With that being said, I still think VY will have a successful NFL career, elsewhere.

But seriously, did people really thing we still may draft VY even after we resigned Carr? I mean is that how you define delusional or what?

For the record I was a big Oiler fan and am a Cowboy fan (Raiders 3rd). Since I left Houston when the Texans came about and havn't lived there since, I don't have a strong attachment to the Texans honestly. That said I wear Texans gear gifted from family members still there and wanted to ge behind them--but given the organization has been so bad and they will pass on such a great local & Texas college product, a player with unlimited potential (more than any player available) even if somewhat of a risk, it certainly isn't helping my case for them.

But the Texans are Houston's team, and I don't live there now, so no biggie to me. If I lived there and had season tickets I'd be pissed. I'll certainly route for them versus most of the NFL, but I sure won't shed a tear in my beer for them or anything. Further the downright ugly animosity towards the best local and state football product shared by so many "fans" here, the man who brought the State of Texas a college national football championship and well represented the city of Houston to the college football world, hasn't helped me to pull for the Texans, I can tell you that.

Now I still am a big pro football fan and love to talk football. While I think the Texans do and probably for a while will suck, and I think the smart football is not to keep Bush with the #1 pick and hand him 30 mil of guarranted money, I won't go out of my way to troll about it b/c of the respectfull participants in this debate.

Further, I really, really, hope Butt Adams doesn't get his grimy mitts on Vince Young and he goes somewhere else, preferrably Oakland.

I mainly surprised that Casserly would be giving away information like that. He should be talkiing up Young and Leinart to increase the value of the #1. Maybe thats what he doing with these statements.
Either way I've always felt they need to trade the pick (even though I would like to see them pick Vince). the texans suck so bad that they need to stockpile picks, one player is not going to turn it around

How did the Texans "diss" VY? Please explain this. To be honest, I think Young will be the best QB to come out of this draft and will at worst be as good as Culpepper. That being said, I'd take, Bush, Williams or Brick over him in a second. We have to draft by need, not by who's from Houston.

It's great you love Vince. He accomplished a lot and brought a National Championship to Texas. Let's hope he has a successful NFL career. However, when you worship a player that much, it borders on scary. I just hope you're not hiding outside his place right now with deer antler and camoflauge on.

I'd love to hear what QB you think could have had success behind our offensive line. Give Carr a chance and if he sucks then move him.

If some kind of trade could be set up for Carr (late 1st?) it was possible. It is what I would have done, personally, because history shows getting a franchise QB is the most fundamental thing you can do via the draft to building a multi-super bowl competitor, and I certainly roll my dice with Young over Carr long term
