if there's any team that can live without an immediate impact, it's the Houston Texans. particularly if they take a hometown boy who is already a local hero.

I think if the Texans wanted to dump Carr they would probably take ML. He's the slightly better prospect than VY at this point.

I wouldn't mind getting D'Brick. Bush is just too good to pass up. Everytime I watch something about the draft I hear that Bush is far and away the best prospect. At least the Texans are under the salary cap.

I'm sure there's some Vandy homers in Nashville making similar arguments about Cutler the hometown boy despite his mediocrity.

As far as people "moving cutler ahead" For that matter there are morons on the internet who have ranked DJ Shockley or Reggie McNeal ahead of Young, both of whom are talked about as receivers. Hell I even saw somebody rank Brett Basanez (who?) ahead of Young.

So we should jump at the beck and call of everybody on the internet with an opinion? Doubtful.

The ceiling of Young is much higher than that of Cutler or Leinart. Again, it doesn't take a genius to see why people might think that.

sam.. I may be a homer, but I'd never advocate the Texans taking Jay Cutler with the first pick .. and there aren't many vandy homers in Nashville they are mostly out of state:)

And the people that have advocated Cutler as the top qb were people like Mortenson.. NFL Network analysts etc.. so not like they were just a bunch of no name people

True. The potential to be a bust is also much higher for Young than Leinart, and it doesn't take a genius to see why people might think that.

mr clutch... I am excited about Reggie Bush, unless we have some great offer for the pick...

Remember the days of the "bush bowl" and everyone loving bush

i'm just baffled at the whole, "take bush, and we'll win next year" crowd. i dont' get it. i see a team with more holes than swiss cheese.

that's why i say, i think the texans are in a position to wait if they need to. because they're not going to be winning, anyway.

madmax.. as many close games as we had last year, I do think we could easily have a respectable record soon.. not a great record soon, but decent

Oh yeah, I'd be at games and people were chanting Reggie Bush. When we lost the Rams game at the last second, people weren't that upset because at least we were still in the running for Bush.

I don't really buy the idea that VY has higher upside. He has more tools, yes. Like the ability to run. But ML and JC have better tools as far as throwing. Would anyone say McNabb has higher upside than Manning just because he is more athletically gifted? I really is a matter of opinion that VY has higher upside, not a fact.

mr clutch.. I agree, you know I'm the big Jay fan. I was just responding to the fact that everyone always says Vince has the most upside and saying that upside can also be a risk..

Personally I think Cutler has the ability to play now, but also has a lot of potential upside. As I posted earlier from 4 years of watching him, this is the first year he was being used in a way that was all out.. letting the ball fly some, etc..

I think he has a lot of upside.. and a lot of his "mistakes" are from playing behind lines that had him running for his life, etc

It is a risk that he might not live up to the "upside", but I think he is safe in the sense that even if he doesn't... he is already a player that I think can play at the next level... I think he is a solid pick who also has upside

mr clutch.. I read that wrong, I guess you were defending me when someone made it sound like it should be easy to see why people say Vince has the upside...:) Glad you see the upside in Jay
