A 16 is still below average and I doubt we'd draft him even if he got a 30. Seems like more people are getting impressed with Cutler anyway. Maybe VY is the 3rd QB taken?

That's the first time I've heard that. I'm going to have to see al ink for that because every single analyst has been all over Cutler at the combine. NFL Access (I think it was Rich Eisen and two other scouts at the time) said he looked outstanding throwing the ball, running and he was the only QB who did reps.

Young could drop to Radiers at No. 7

INDIANAPOLIS - What if the Oakland Raiders are in position to draft Texas quarterback Vince Young, the hero of this season's national championship game?

It may sound ludicrous, considering Oakland picks seventh in the first round, but it's not a far-fetched scenario, primarily if Tennessee and the New York Jets pass on the talented Texan. If that happens, Young could easily slip to the Raiders because it doesn't make sense that the Packers and 49ers would draft a quarterback, either. Well, the Jets are looking at drafting a quarterback, considering their pending divorce with good-guy, bad-shoulder Chad Pennington, but they apparently are eying Vanderbilt quarterback Jay Cutler, who is described by many as the next coming of Brett Favre.

Cutler wowed the scouts by bench-pressing 225 pounds 28 times here at the scouting combine and won many admirers by basically challenging Young and Matt Leinart to come out and throw with him. They declined, of course.

Here's how Young could end up being available to the Raiders. Houston takes Reggie Bush with the first pick and New Orleans, desperate for a franchise quarterback, selects 2004 Heisman winner Leinart of USC, with the second choice. No drama there.

The Titans own the third pick and seem to be in need of a new franchise quarterback, plus Young and Steve McNair have become good friends. Young said he would love the opportunity to play and learn under McNair's wing. But the Titans aren't totally sold on Young right now. They could be in another month or so, but they claim to have plenty of work to do on big right-hander.

Vince Young and Al Davis? That would be quite the pairing. (Lisa Blumenfeld / Getty Images)

The Titans are worried that Young has taken as few as eight snaps a season from under center. He has excelled in a shotgun offense with a running back positioned next to him. Young's game has been almost as much running as it has been throwing. And this week he has made it clear that he has won enough, played well enough at Texas, that he doesn't see why any NFL team would change his shotgun style and his unorthodox throwing motion.

The other word is that Tennessee offensive coordinator Norm Chow also has serious reservations about Young's ability to run his system. There also are rumblings about a low Wonderlic test grade.

The Titans could opt for Cutler, too, considering he's the hometown kid having played his college ball in Nashville.

Still, it sounds strange that someone like Young could slip that far, but then Daunte Culpepper was the 11th overall choice in the 1999 draft and three quarterbacks were drafted before him, including Tim Couch (first overall by Cleveland) and Akili Smith (third overall by Cincinnati) who are no longer in the league.

Obviously, stranger things have definitely happened. Yes, despite all the months of scouting and interviewing, NFL teams are prone to making huge personnel blunders. Everyone is human.

This being said, it isn't a slam dunk that the Raiders would even pick Young. The more pressing concerns surround his deep-ball accuracy (an Al Davis demand) and his penchant for simply running (although quite effectively) too much.

It doesn't matter much to the Texans, no. I think they'll draft Bush or trade down for D'Brick and other needs.

that's fine, I wrote he didn't throw well.

edit: notice that as much as the article pumps cutler up, it mentions nothing of how he threw.

First of, the article states that Cutler wowed admirers so much that they basically challenged Young and Leinart to come and throw with him. I'm guessing if he was out there throwing like DJ Shockley was then they wouldn't have made that comment.

What radio station did you hear that on. I listen to 610 and 790 a lot going to and from work and have heard every single one of those guys say Cutler has been amazing at the combine. If he didn't throw well I doubt the reviews would be so high and his stock wouldn't be rising like this. If he was only strong and decently fast (lots of QB's were faster) then it wouldn't be a big deal. The article also states scouts see him as the second coming of Brett Favre.

ESPN and NFL access (which is at the combine and covering it on television) said he threw extremely well.

here's an idea, you post an article that proves me wrong. I heard it on espn radio. the article doesn't say anything about how he threw, it just says his competitive nature impressed them, in challenging young and lienart to throw.

I watched Cutler throw from the combine live on NFL Network and I thought he looked good. The commentators kept making comments about how quick he got the ball there and how accurate it was. They even had comments from some of the receivers talking about the zip he puts on the ball.

For what? All I've heard is how great the guy is . I don't feel like searching ESPN and draft sites for articles when all I hear is Cutler. If he had thrown poorly his stock wouldn't be rising like this. It's actually pretty simple

I was watching the same thing (although i missed Cutler). Unfortunately I saw Shockley throw. I heard Eisen and the two scouts talk about his accuracy, touch and arm strength probably being the best in the draft (they were including Leinart in that as well)

There are tons of them. I also listen to 610 and 790 and haven't heard anyone say he didn't throw well. Did he not throw well at the combine? Or at the senior bowl? All of the articles i've seen say he has a live arm and he gets compared to Brett Favre. Throwing poorly would not constitute such statements. Please back up your baseless claim if possible.

Much of the focus was on Vanderbilt quarterback Jay Cutler . The Commodore signal caller had been making a meteor-like rise up draft boards even though he had not played a football game in more than a month.

Cutler's physical skills were impressive as was his live arm. Displaying the ability to make all the passes, he left scouts with much to think about.

My dinner's on fire while she watches TV
And if you've ever wondered what it's like to be me
She takes all my money and leaves me no smokes
Yells at my buddies and insults my folks
I'm breakin' my back doin' the best that I can
She's got time for the dog and none for her man
And I'm no dope, but I can't cope
So hit the ****in' road and piss up a rope

You can piss up a rope
And you can put on your shoes, hit the road get truckin'
Pack your bag, I don't need the ag
On your knees you big, booty b**** start suckin'
You ride my ass like a horse in a saddle
Now you're up ****s creek with a turd for a paddle
    And I can't cope -- piss up a rope

Uh, you can piss up a rope and feel the pissy dribble
You can piss up a rope and watch me giggle
For the last 6 months I been packin' your bag
You can wash my balls with a warm, wet rag
Till my balls feel smooth and soft like silk
I'm sick of your mouth and your 2 percent milk
And I'm no dope, but I've lost all hope
So hit the ****in' road and piss up a rope

You can piss up a rope
And you can put on your shoes, hit the road get truckin'
Pack your bag, I don't need the ag
