paul won't pick up his option, even if it was to the lakers or knicks, the guys injuries make him a bit questionable, so wherever he goes, it;s going to be a full contract as of next year.

Luifa and martin are getting up there in age. N.O would end up drafting 14th or getting the eighth seed in the playoffs had the original proposed three way gone down. Who wants to be stuck in bball purgatory? With gordon and bledsoe, they can rebuild and get a nice pick while going through the growing pains. The commissar did his job

I think this deal is good for New Orleans. But (maybe ironically, maybe Stern is a super-genius), I don't think it would have been possible without the LA/HOU/NO debacle. First Paul wanted to go to NY, but seeing it wasn't likely and the Lakers were knocking, he conceded to that. Only when that blew up, was he willing to look at LA's other team. I don't think Paul would be as open to LAC without all the BS that came before, and LAC wouldn't be able to offer the package they now can with the confidence that Paul would stay.

It was still an abuse of power and a traveshamockery.

Anyway, Paul got what he deserved for being a traitor -- the Clippers. And, I'm glad Griffin will have a good teammate to make his purgatory more comfortable. Hopefully, it won't make him forget that LAC is incompetent and that he must ultimately leave. The Hornets got good assets for a sale to a Vegas buyer, but they should be pretty bad this season.

If true, the NBA has to veto this deal. Not including Eric Gordon makes it highway robbery for the Clippers. Giving CP3 as a set-up man to Gordon, Griffin and Butler is completely unfair. I can see the Clips competing for #1 seed in the conference. EG will get more uncontested jumpers next season than in his first 3 combined. He might lead the NBA in 3-point percentage. Griffin will get even more dunks. Deandre Jordan might also. Having two other guys on the floor with CP3 who are decent at creating their own shot (Gordon + Butler) will make the Clips very hard to defend.

    Stern will reject it.

No he won't, because Sota's #1 pick is more valuable to a rebuilding team than anything our trade would have given them. Think of how hard is what for Morey to trade into the top of the lottery in past weak drafts. That pick could be a top one in a loaded one.

I think Chris Broussard is correct, Eric Gordon IS in this deal but Clippers are reporting otherwise so that if the trade is denied Gordon won't be pissed.

LAC would be bumped to the top 5 easily with CP3...if they by chance the Clippers hold on to Gordon....then man they might just be a top 3 team and come out of the west...

    Jordan/Kaman
    Griffin
    Butler
    Gordon or no Gordon
    Paul

    Thats a damn good team.

Question: Do you think Minny's #1 pick is worth more than EG?

I'm salivating over next year's draft because I've watched more college basketball the last month than the previous ten Nov/Decembers combined. The amount of talent will be incredible. But EG is a proven commodity at the NBA level.

The Hornets should be in no position to bargain. Paul has stated that he will leave after this season if they keep him. The Hornets should be happy to get what they can for him. To think they could receive a potential #1 overall pick along with Gordon is crazy. Teams have been getting scraps for superstars for years, now, because the NBA owns a team the deal has to unbalanced?

    This is ridiculous. CONTRACTION.

It would be a good team and would most likely be a playoff team, but I don't think they'd be a contender or even a HCA team. Their young guys still have a lot of maturing to do, and their culture is lacking. I think on blunt talent, they'll get pretty far, but you need the other stuff too to be elite.

daldridgetnt Per a source who has been briefed on NO-LAC negotiations, the Hornets have to choose between the Minnesota pick and Gordon. Can't have both.

No deal for Clips then; another Stern veto. Clips stuck in mediocrity by not taking risks.

If I'm trying to appease Blake Griffin into staying long term with us, I choose to give up the Minny 1st round pick.

It's a no brainer. I am convinced an Adelman-led Puppies team will win at least 30 games in an 82 game season.

That's probably good enough for the 10-12 range in the lotto.

    Gordon is better than that.

Plus if you surround CP3 with Gordon, Butler, Griffin and Jordan, that team is competing for homecourt in the playoffs.

Sources say in addition to Bledsoe, league asking for another pick from Minny. Stern is trying to make this impossible.

    WTF?

I'm beginning to think Stern wants CP3 to rot in jail (New Orleans) than go to LA.

I don't think he ever had the intention to trade him.

Well, Stern is doing what other GMs trying to trade their star should do. It shows NO is not desperate in trying to trade Paul, and thus increases his value even more.

And the NBA is trying to sell the Hornets, so they need to get all they can get for Paul.
