I mean from a lockeroom perspective. You are talking about a Laker dynasty potentially collapsing with again a disgruntled Kobe, losing your 3rd/4th best player for nothing, losing out on CP3, and potentially losing out on DHoward with one less trade chip. For the Rockets, you dont loose what you never had. KMartin/Scola will get over it and actually might play better just in spite. McHale will be great at diffusing the situation in the lockeroom and will be a non-issue. Chuck Hayes was not going to be re-signed anyways unless the deal went through and Morey thought the team could contend. The Rockets are just back where they started. Young talented team that will be fighting for a playoff spot.
Plus they've got Mike Brown as their coach....Mike Brown Fall of the Lakers right here..started by their epic sweep defeat.
It's no longer about teams, it's about cities. Sure, they're the Clippers, but that still means LA, great weather, celebrities, and media opportunities. Plus, CP gets to partner up with another super star.
HowardBeckNYT Howard Beck The Clippers play in a major market, in a great city. That stars don't want to go there can only be viewed as indictment of ownership. HowardBeckNYT Howard Beck Put another way: if Clippers had even a semi-decent reputation, Chris Paul and Dwight Howard would be clamoring to play there.
Why would he veto this trade? It gets NO what he mandated, youth and good picks. And it doesn't add LT salary.
This is a far better deal than the Rockets/Lakers one. Maybe Stern vetoing for Basketball reasons isn't completely indefensible. Can't believe this wouldn't have been done by Demps over our guys.
the point is they're young whereas the original rockets trade wasn't giving them many options for the future.
Not too mention, Artest got fat and Gasol probably isn't happen, and we all know how mature Bynum is.
Someone give Demps GM of the year. He's getting more than a fair deal for CP3. A potential all-star SG in Gordon, a big man, some young players, AND picks? *******.
It doesn't help that David Stern is the owner of that team and plays God. I mean, there has got to be a conflict of interest here. This has nothing to do with how good Demps is. Demps was fine with taking Scola/Martin/Odom and some picks until Stern vetoed the trade at the last second.
That original deal was also a great deal for the Hornets, so Demps should still get the GM of the year for what he was able to flip for a star who didn't want to be there. Stern played God b/c some owners didn't want another superstar to go to the Lakers. He won't veto this.
Stars going to the Clippers before Houston. Never would have imagined that, heh. Yeah still LA but...that's crazy talk. Here Houston, can I interest you in Samuel Dalembert?
It's not LA; it's Blake Griffin. If we had Blake Griffin, Morey would probably have a much easier time doing his job.
