Maybe he’ll get Yuli out of the 2 spot next.

    I don't agree.

Chas is, by far, the better LF or RF but I think Meyers is exceptional enough with range and glove that he gets the nod even with weak arm.

Dubon is perfectly good as a back up but not as good as either.

Best OF defense is Chas-Jake-Kyle left to right.

This (especially now that Meyers's arm is getting stronger), but I don't really see much of a difference with Dubon either. Whichever 3 of those 4 are played will be the best defensive OF in baseball.

They had plenty of BP yesterday.

Plus, there's cages they can use.

I don't know about all of MLB. I haven't looked.

    But Siri is special.

    July 14, 2022

Siri LF, Meyers CF, Tucker RF.

I think McCormick has just as much range if not more than those two. Definitely has a better arm than Meyers. I dont think theres any proof at all that Meyers is better. I have watched them both long enough. Ive never seen meyers make a play that McCormick couldn’t make. I think some of you just regurgitate old scouting reports and must not watch the games. Meyers has been unimpressive in the field this year and he can’t throw.

That is only because Jake was a higher ranking prospect and the organization had more plans for jake than Siri. Thats why Jake was getting the call over Chas in CF too. Meyers just didn’t capitalize on his opportunity and yes that’s probably because he isn’t fully healed.

These guys made us look pretty bad last year in the WS. This would not be “payback”. Just keep winning.

    According to Baseball Savant:

All fly balls w/ 90% or less catch probability.

Meyers 4 outs above average in 20 chances
Chas 4 outs above average in 37 chances.

    Jake reacts in 0.3 seconds
    Chas reacts in 0.8 seconds

    Jake has burst of 2.2
    Chas has burst of 1.5

Jake covers 3.2 ft more than average
Chas covers 2.6 ft more than average.

    Jake caught 14 of the 20. =70%
    Chas caught 19 of the 37. = 51.4%

    0-25%
    Jake 1 of 4
    Chas 0 of 16

    26-50%
    Jake 4 of 5
    Chas 2 of 4

    51-75%
    Jake 5 of 7
    Chas 6 of 6

They are both 100% on balls 75% or better.

Missed 2 of 7 in the 51-75% range. That is not good. I just trust McCormick more out there. Also, are these stats for this year only? Also, remember, Jake has a noodle arm. Also, remember that Jake can’t hit well enough to justify that better jump that he gets in the field, which I think will improve for Chas if he plays more CF. Jake only plays CF so there is no adjustment for him to make.

5-of-7 is 71%, that seems more than adequate for a 51-75% range.

    Lol

Nice of you to comment on the only category that Chas out performs him in.

Bottom line is that Chas is a better than average CF. Jake is an elite CF.

Chas absolutely should be the starter based on all other aspects - bat, arm, etc. But this discussion was about whether Jake has more range and is better with the glove than Chas and he is.

    Chas goes to LF.

I disagree. Jake is not elite. No way. Maybe when he heals. Right now? Chas is better.
