He wasn't explicit in leaving out any group nor did he demonstrate any prejudices. He didn't mention Asians, Native Americans, and did say young people and women which could be of any race. I find it remarkable that your lack of understanding is profound. It's also amazing that as often as you accuse others of playing the race card, you rush out and accuse people of being racist quite regularly, like in this thread. Your hypocrisy is again exposed. It happens all the time with you.
basso, did you create this thread in honor of Chesty Puller? http://bbs.clutchfans.net/showthread.php?t=185682 You're doing him proud.
sadly, threads about american heros just don't generate the same number of responses as those about The Once.
Uhhh. Did you read the first part you bolded? You know, the part about how we're a country, not a divided America? Are you trying to say suggesting we unite is a way to divide us?
Well, he can only do so much... Obama's favorable ratings: 67% in the Northeast 59% in the West 57% in the Midwest 40% in the South Research 2000, MoE 2.8%, Apr 19, 2010 - Apr 22, 2010 http://www.dailykos.com/weeklypoll/2010/4/22
Yeah, me either. How does this make Obama a "divider"? But whoops, I just realized the time frame difference between the two quotes which is really your point. I don't think the second quote contradicts anything in the first quote, it's simply a President reaching out to the main demographic that elected him. Big deal. If you really feel threatened by this as a fellow white guy, you have serious paranoia issues.
I doubt he truly does feel left out, or even that it's really racist. But he does have paranoia issues, and he plays the race card more than about anyone on the bbs.
not that i trust that poll in any way, but you left out one important stat: Direction QUESTION: Do you feel the country overall is heading in the right direction or wrong direction? All respondents: RIGHT: 39% WRONG: 57% NOT SURE: 4%

as you said, it's the contrast, the shift in tone, that is interesting. this is a president who goes out of his way to demonize the opposition.
For a different thread. When talking about uniting vs. dividing favorability would be the primary stat.
