just seems too implausible like, these guys don’t have the value or are capable of bringing in the value from another team for Miami to just give up someone like Herro or New Orleans to part with Ingram
Some of those guys can't be traded without attaching an asset. No, if we're going to trade anybody for substantial assets it'll be Christian Wood. He's drastically outplaying his contract. Don't be surprised if we have to spend picks to get rid of EG. And we would DEFINITELY have to attach a **** ton of assets to be rid of Wall. Nobody wants that contract with that injury history. You might get a 2nd rounder for Tucker from a team that is trying to contend if you can figure out the salaries. Danuel House should be a positive asset because he's young and on a cheap contract except he's tanking his value every day by playing terribly. You might get a single first round pick for Oladipo, but with his injuries and the fact he wants a big payday this offseason i don't see anybody giving up the farm for him. So likely you could get a draft pick for him that you could then attach to Eric Gordon to get somebody to take him. Sounds fun.
Hopefully we remain competitive. This is just a slap in the face of season ticket holders who opted in this year during a pandemic if we decide to tank. This is not what we signed up for and I am sure others feel the same.
Cannot happen until March 3rd from what I hear by then Herro's resume maybe too good for that Rocket River
Yeah, except you probably need to attach couple of those picks from the Nets if you want other team to receive Wall. LOL.
Expiring contracts and cap space mean jack. How many years since the Knicks had enough cap space to sign 2 max FA and who actually wanted to play for Dolan? And who will want to play for Tilman now?
No, even you will get a HOFer Manu Ginobili, this team will still suck donkey ass. You don't need a Manu at this point, you need either tank to the bottom and get a Tim Duncan or get extremely lucky by picking a Curry at no. 7.
It's about flexibility sir. We have options, that's why those expiring contracts are important. Essentially now you can clear your books and have room for free agency this summer, or trade those expiring contracts for picks and other players. I'm not looking at it just free agency wise.
We should tank this year and get our own pick back if it lands in the top 4. We have only won 3 games. We are probably now on par with Minnesota, Cleveland, Detroit and the other teams for the lottery top 4. Wall needs to rest every other game. We would then have our own pick this year in 2022 and 2023. All will be lottery picks. Trade Oladipo for garbage expiring and another crappy pick.
if they can successfully tank this year, then by all means, we should absolutely rev up the engines and get rolling at the very least, they gotta be prepared for an all out tank job with no shame starting next season trying to remain competitive and sneak into the playoffs should not be the goal at all
If Oladipo wants Miami send him there for Olynk and a pick no matter how shitty. We don't need him to screw up our tank.
also , concerning this year. If we are bad we should get a good pick even if OKC swaps ... because OKC is probably going to be bad.
I think it might take them a little while to fully embrace the tank and get rid of anyone...hopefully they quickly realize what needs to be done
The Rockets are either going to play the short game (compete for a title in '21) or the long game (position the team to better compete for a title beyond '21). It really is that simple. In my estimation there is NOTHING that the Rockets can do to realistically compete for a title this season so the short game is pointless. But it goes even farther. Trying to compete for a title they will not win in '21 the Rockets would be making it less likely that the Rockets compete for a title beyond '21 by lessening their ability to acquire talend for subsequent NBA seasons. The ONLY smart play is to attempt to lose as much as the Rockets can in the hopes of landing a top 4 pick (the only way they avoid swapping their pick with Miami) and adding a premier talent that can help the team eventually compete for a championship.
the rockets are going to lose a ton of games this year. idk if its tank bad but it's going to be bad regardless. people need to realize what this roster is minus harden. and then you take into account wall will miss games. EG is already hurt and will be in and out. wood has already had issues
