If we are still under .500 a month from now, and not looking like a playoff team, I say we trade Wall, Oladipo, EG, PJ, House.. and start over. Should be able to get some young raw potential for those guys above, to build around C Wood. Maybe even some more picks that we can combine and flip to get some young exciting talent, like an RJ Barrett, Myles Turner, Tyler Herro or a Brandon Ingram. With all these draft picks and swaps over the next 6 years, I think we can start to rebuild this team with some young, exciting talent. Also, getting all that aforementioned money off the books would create a lot of flexibility for the team, to go after some studs in the next few years.
ain’t no if, they all should be dealt at the earliest opportunity regardless of what is happening so we can tank with no shame next season also, none of these guys are getting u young players like Herro or Ingram
We dont have our pick tanking makes zero sense. Also they dont have to tank this current roster goid enough to get into the playoffs. A good time to start tanking is in 2024 which is when we have both our pick and Brooklyn Nets.
maybe a mix of some players and picks will, though. Or, they may just need to unload everyone for picks and bank a ridiculous number of picks, and then lump a number of them together to get someone like Herro
Get all the picks you can, even the 2nd rounders. Draft and stash. We need a new Sergio Llull, or maybe even a new Malick Badiane.
we have our pick next season which is when I said we should start tanking, so it absolutely makes sense Who cares if they get into the playoffs? They will get demolished. They aren’t doing anything.
We dont. We have a swap and we get the worst from OKC and another team. Maybe you meant 2023 season but we have a swap with OKC that year so we dont need to tank if Bkn flops. Getting into playoffs, losing in the first round and getting the 14th pick is Rockets tradition.
The Rockets are likely going to lose several of their own picks through swaps or not meeting the criteria for pick protection. The Rockets own OKC pick swaps in 2021 and 2025. The 2021 pick is only top 4 protected and we would end up with the Miami #1. The 2025 pick is top 10 protected. The Rockets owe OKC their picks in 2024 and 2026 and the protection is only 1-4. The reality is that ownership JAMMING through the Westbrook deal was horrible...... but rebuilding in 2025 is years away and not great either as we still owe OKC in 2026 a pick with light protections. The Rockets best bet is to accept that they will likely lose their own pick (possibly both) and likely not have to swap picks in 2025 if they do a complete rebuild. In 2024/2025/2026 and even this year, there are at least protections 1-4 so if the Rockets get into the lottery (the worst 5-6 teams) they have like a 25%-45% chance of keeping their own pick according to the odds. In the interim the Rockets can continue to try and accumulate assets.
If we are going to shoot to compete for a top 4 pick, then we need to start now and not wait to the deadline.
no, that’s this year...we own our pick in 2022 and 2023 we have swaps with OKC this year and in 2025... our picks in 2024 and 2026 are top 4 protected we need to tank hard starting next season, and making the playoffs means nothing at this point our main priority is acquiring another superstar that we can build around and carry the franchise for 8-10 years like we had with Harden
Trading Wall WILL NOT BE EASY. Well . . I don't think it will be. Alot of the trades we want to do . . .. seems like we would need to add sweeteners Rocket River
We have $49,985,154 worth of expiring contracts. You can bet your bottom dollar we are going to be very active this trade deadline. That's why we preferred Oladipo and Exum over LaVert and Allen. Those guys are as good as gone.
