r u kidding me? every yankee fan will tell you that knoblauch was one of the best leadoff guys in baseball. defensively he stuink it up after awhile, but offensively the guy was one of the most important pieces of theoffense Stanton was 1/2 of the second most important part of the pitching corp, the bridge to Mo. Any Yankee fan who watched them knows this. Any article about the Yankees dynasty run will bring up Nelson and Stanton as being extremely important to our success. Again Sam, you obviously don't know enough about the Yankees to comment on them. he interviewed the GM of every single team. Disney owns a team, so does Nintendo, and the people who own the Tribune. You really mean to tell me that this is the same as auditing a single corporation with different fiefdoms and subdivisions?
Hotballa is right. The guys named were HUGE parts of the Yankee Dynasty. Knobby, Stanton, David Justice, Andy and Roger all played very significant roles in those teams and any Yankee fan would vouch for that.
No actually most yankees fans I knew told me he sucked and they hated him. Do I need to dig up old New York Post Sports pages for you about his downfall? Yawn - so you are rebutting my claim that he was a middle reliever by claiming that he was a middle reliever - and wow - "1/2 of the secod most important part of the pitching corps" LOL - second most importnat part? Of what, two parts? I know enough to see that you are not capable of being rational about this and are simply whining. Ummh, he appears to have interviwed hundreds of witnesses - and yes interviewing witnesses with competing loyalties as part of an investigation is a ROUTINE occurrence that I and thousands of other lawyers have experienced many, many, many, many times. Out of your depth.
I understand why you might think that, but I just don't think you know much about Mitchell if you believe that's even remotely possible. This is a guy who's been seen as a total straight shooter through decades of public service.
That list has some of baseball's biggest names of the last 15 years on it. If your investigation can sniff out a Chris Donnels, you can certainly find out about Sosa. With all the whispers about him through the years, I'm just surprised he's not on that list.
so where are those Yankees fans right now? As for the Post articles, please go right ahead and do just that. They'll complain about him but they'll also talk about how he was a huge part of the offense. hmm I get it so middle relief isn't that important to the Yankees. I guess that's why there is still some people in the organization making noise about putting one of the best starting pitching propects in baseball, Joba, back into the bullpen despite our starting rotation's issues. I also know enough to see that you simply haven't followed the Yankees and really should be walking away from this argument and focusing on my comments about Mitchell's work, which yes I am whining about to some degree Talking about the Yankees is obviously "Out of your depth" I'm not putting down your work but please to say that auditing (your word) entities owned by multiple international fortune 500 companies together at one time is the same as auditing a single corporation is just ridiculous. Anyway, I am whining, yes I know that and understand perfectly I'm whining. That still doesn't hide the fact that a whole lot of people thought Mitchell was an inappropriate person to do the investigation.
I think it was really more of a passive thing as in, if the info came ot him he would have checked it out but that subconsicously he would not aggressively look for the info. I do not think he did anything intentional.
Not necessarily. He had like what, 3 sources who provided him with all of this? We know that Latin players in particular are able to get anabolic steroids in places like the Dominican for dirt cheap and easier than they can in the states. ESPN did a special a few years ago where they sent a reporter down there and a lot of guys in the academies admitted to using steroids. Their reporter even went into a store and bought some. This investigation didn't reach any of that. I think the bigger point this report makes is that steroids are everywhere in the game and we need to move and stop worrying about it.
ehh..not really. as mitchell said, its just taking a look at how the MLB turned their heads as all of this went on. the MLB needs to take steps to put an end to it, i dont think its going to be possible to put a complete end to it, but at least crack down on it.
Yes, I know what you meant and it's highly unlikely. If he was deemed worthy to hear cases as a Supreme Court Justice, I'm sure his mind is analytical enough to be able to overcome any subconscious bias. Mitchell's no idiot. If anything, he would've been more thorough when looking at leads on Sox players. Again, this is no hack "baseball man" here. It's not like they got Theo Epstein or Pam Gardner to conduct the investigation. I'm sorry to keep beating this drum, but I used to work in politics and Mitchell was always someone I admired. I was truly bummed when he chose not to sit on the Supreme Court because he's exactly the kind of person we need on the bench. (politics aside, of course)
Fair enough, I realy don't know much about Mitchell so i can only attribute basic human behavior qualities to him. I do want to make it clear that in no way am I whining about the truthfulness of the Yankees caught. As a longtime fan, I am thoroughly and completely disappointed and ashamed. The Yankees were treated fairly, but I am unable to come to that conclusion about the Sox.
