No charges brought against former Miami officer who slapped woman at airport

    https://thehill.com/homenews/state-...er-miami-officer-who-slapped-woman-at-airport

    excerpt:

A retired police officer will not be charged for slapping a woman at Miami International Airport in June 2020, according to a memo from the Miami-Dade State Attorney's Office obtained by The Miami Herald.

Officer Antonio Clemente Rodriguez, who was seen hitting a woman in a video that went viral last year, was cleared of all charges.

The police department described the slap as a "distraction strike" to get the woman under control and concluded there is insufficient evidence to charge the officer.

According to the memo, the Miami-Dade State Attorney's office decided to not charge Rodriguez with misdemeanor battery on Oct 1. The decision not to charge him was made public on Tuesday.

So can anyone give a "distraction strike" or only cops and former cops?

Good ol police unions ruining society. Usually unions advocate for better pay, not abusing citizens with immunity. Police unions should only be allowed to negotiate pay and work hours. They shouldn't be advocates for officers who abuse citizens.

No one says Turley is wrong all the time. We just see him attaching his himself to defending the previous administration as a form of a grift( expanding his following).

If you post every little incident like this I'll post every black on black murder. We will compare numbers or just every black on other race murder and compare. How about that?

Why do you have to make everything about race dude? I'm talking about lack of accountability and training in law enforcement regardless of color. I expect the police to know and follow the law. The way you get so defensive about law enforcement, I would guess that you or some very close to you works in law enforcement.

We all know black people commit crime against black people just like white people commit crime against white people. It's mostly because white people and black people tend to live near each other. There is a reason why it's called black neighborhoods and white neighborhoods.

Don't want to start a new thread for this story but this is another example of the problem with LE and the public. When this Sheriff drives drunk, speeds, crashes and lies about it yet won't have the decency to resign it makes all LE look bad.

Note, as an elected position he cannot be fired and the recall process in Mn isn't very easy. As a resident though of Hennepin County, where Minneapolis is located, I'm all for recalling him and certainly will not be voting for him next election.

Hennepin County sheriff hit 126 mph drunk before rollover crash
    Peter Cox
    January 20, 2022 10:20 AM

Hennepin County Sheriff David Hutchinson was driving drunk at extremely high speeds in a county-owned vehicle, topping 126 mph before rolling it over on Interstate 94 last month near Alexandria, Minn., according to a newly released Minnesota State Patrol report.

The investigative documents say Hutchinson claimed that he'd called a cab and a cab driver had been driving his SUV at the time of the crash.

Cab companies called by investigators said they received a call from Hutchinson's number earlier asking them to take him to a bar, but the company explained that the bar would be closed by then and the conversation ended. He did not ask anyone to drive his SUV.

Hutchinson pleaded guilty in December to a misdemeanor charge of driving with a blood alcohol level of 0.08 percent. Documents reported his blood alcohol level at 0.13 percent three hours after the crash. Hutchinson said at the time he had been drinking before the wreck.

He was originally charged with four counts of misdemeanor DWI offenses, including driving under the influence while carrying a firearm. He was sentenced to two years probation and a $610 fine.

He was hospitalized for several days with unspecified injuries. He has since returned to work and said he’s participating in outpatient treatment.

Hutchinson has resisted growing calls for him to resign as Hennepin County sheriff, saying he’ll let voters decide his fate.

    More reporting to come.

Quite a few Houston area police officers have passed in the last week. Terrible week.

I had met the one that passed today, SGT. Gutierrez, at a safety meeting I conducted last year. Seemed like a standup guy.

    I suspect he probably was
individually alot of them probably are . .. out of uniform

I generally am reminded of what Agent K said in Men in Black

Agent K: A person is smart. People are dumb, panicky dangerous animals and you know it.
Paraphrased: An individual Officer can be a kind generous good human being. As a collective they are more vindictive mean spirited arrogant animals.

Putting on that uniform . . . .. for so many means putting on a new persona/attitude.

Police officers deal with people everyday. What persecution have you suffered at the hands of the police? The rare individuals are the ones who commit civil rights violations
