I agree with this! This is how I’ve felt about him as well, but…. Damn, he produces and make plays every time he’s on the floor!! Can’t sleep on him at all
If you have a player, on the cheap, and that player is coveted by the Bucks, Raptors or Heat - you should also want to hold on to said player
I think it's sensible to trade him, especially if there are reports that he wants more minutes or that he wants to leave. He undoubtedly has talent, but he has no clear defined role or strength. He is a pure tweener on defense, and isn't particularly adept at guarding either SF or PF. Offensively, he isn't a poor 3PT shooter, but he also doesn't attempt many. He is shooting 3s at roughly a similar rate as PJ Tucker, and Tucker was basically a corner/bail out option with minimal offensive contributions. He attempts only 2 3PA per game, can he maintain the same shooting percentage if that number scales to 4-5? He seems to be at his best when he is slashing, cutting or in transition. On a young, losing team, this will get you points efficiently, but it won't help you win games consistently. He is a very poor free throw shooter, which is probably the most concerning part of his game. His poor career free throw percentage (67%) could imply his career 36% 3PT on 2 attempts per game is potentially not sustainable. In addition, it reduces his effectiveness as a slashing/cutting option because he can't punish teams at the free throw line.
I think it's relevant and should be a factor in his trade value. Other factors would include age, minutes played, current salary, etc..
If KJ doesn't want to be here, move him. He'll likely never be more than a role player in the league.
I don’t want to trade KMJr unless someone is willing to seriously overpay for him, which I doubt. We’ll regret it. We have to be able to find enough minutes for him.
Or let the bidding begin. KJ is low cost, has shown that he can play in the NBA, and still has projectile upside potential. Late first round picks will be more of a gamble, which is where the Bucks, Raptors, Heat draft.
Humm... I think you onto something here, buddy. If the Warriors also show interest, then I'm either keeping him or the ask price goes up.
