Idk, I just can't see Morey trading brooks.. He has always been really high on him. I think he would only trade Brooks if we got complete gold in the trade.. But I doubt that.
Why? I thought you were all about developing a superstar? Brooks is who he is, he's a borderline all-star type with well-defined strengths and weaknesses. Cousins could bust, but is younger and has a much higher ceiling (which is why he was drafted where he was).
I know this is clutchfans, but CAN WE BE REALISTIC. KIRK HINRICH? ARE YOU SERIOUS? Lmao. You honestly think Kirk Hinrich is the point guard of the Rockets future??? (when he isnt even of the Wizards ) If we're gonna trade of Kirk Hinrich, we mine as well bring back Matt Maloney or Brent Price. You guys are stuck in the 90's. Those slow "Stockton" esq guards dont win in today's game. Aaron Brooks is too good to even be mentioned in the same sentence of Hinrich. What kinda mar1juana are smokin?
Sac GM:"Hey Morey, so we're interested in Brooks.." Morey:"Cousins available?" Sac GM:"Nah sorry man bu.." Morey:"2011 1st?" Sac GM:"Nah man but we do hav..." *Morey hangs up the phone* Seriously if you guys even think Jason Thompson, Garcia, Casspi or Donte Greene have a value anywhere close to Brooks you guys are smoking the good stuff. Thank god Morey is rumored to over-value his players because I swear some of you must have horrible fantasy teams!
AB is the most overrated/underrated player at the same time, in the same forum, funny... AB is top 15 PG, but Cousins, even if he turns out a bust he will be easily top 10, because you only have 5 decent Centers in the league, unfortunately (and by decent I mean Centers that play above decent Defense plus Offense).... So for me, it is a no brainer if Cousins is involved.... And DD another thing that will help you accept this trade... If we trade for Cousins, it will mean that we have a 17M, 7-6, 100 times all-star, expiring contract to trade, meaning that it will be easier to trade for a big fish, plus the Yao era would be over, sad because I love him as a hard worker, but his body was not made for sports... PeAcE
Jeffries is in his last year. Not only do we not need his contract to be absorbed (besides, moving closer to the cap doesn't help that much, and we certainly don't need to be closer to the cap this season), but as an expiring, he is an asset in trades. The Kings wouldn't be doing us a favor by taking him off our hands.
I think the only negotiation if we do agree on a trade with the Kings, would be how much protection are they going to put on that 1st round pick. I don't see anything else really working. I'll take a top 5 protected 1st this year. With Brooks, Evans, Cousins, Landry etc I don't see them being one of 5 worst teams out there. I can see their lottery pick being anywhere from 7-12. I think that's fair value for Brooks.
If you think this roster just needs some minor adjustments to compete, then you're right. However, if you're in the camp that thinks the Yao era is officially a failed experiment and we need to start rebuilding through the draft, Sacramento is one of the best teams to work out a trade with. They are loaded with young talent and their draft picks will be valuable for at least another two or three years minimum.
I am not there yet.....this is a grass is greener thought process. I would like to see what happens once this team is healthy....so we can make an informed decision rather than one out of desperation. DD
Unless the Kings have caught Cousins tossing puppies into a tree shredder, not even Luis Scola would be enough to pry him out of their hands. Think about it, in spite of Oden being more injury prone than Yao, reports are that several teams would still be willing to invest a few million in him. That's how valuable a decent center is.
i'd keep brooks considering the lack of talent/depth in this years draft or maybe swap him for a pick a year or two down the road
They're going to offer him close to 10m per. It may not be a matter of letting him walk and more in the direction they might not think he's worth it. Now if they trade lowry this season, I might have a better feeling about keeping brooks.
Tell ya what though, I would like to snag Whiteside from them. The Rockets would easily match that and make a trade elsewhere...probably Kyle to Cleveland. DD
This may have been mentioned already but... Says that the Kings want a more traditional PG and although Brooks is much closer to that than Evans is, isn't Brooks still consider more of a score first PG?
