IMO, for a realistic trade we should address the needs of each team. The Kings need defense and outside shooting, and we need players who can create mismatches. First, I'd prefer to trade Lowry ($5.75M) rather than Brooks ($2.016M), but his salary would be an obstacle and he has to approve the trade. Lowry gets them better defense and would not interfere with Tyreke Evans' need for the ball. Warm bodies to include because of roster spots could be Jermaine Taylor and Chuck Hayes. The Rockets, as I said, need players who can create mismatches -- 6-11 Jason Thompson ($2.18M) and/or 7-0 Hassan Whiteside ($730k) at center and 6-11 Donte Greene ($930K) at small forward. The sticking point in trading Brooks vs. Lowry would be draft picks. The Rockets would be crazy to give up Brooks without a high draft choice, but Sacramento is not about to surrender a #1 - #6 for Brooks when PGs like Kyrie Irving and Brandon Knight are coming out.
I would rather keep Hill because of his potential but I think Landry wont get any better. But if there is a way to get keep them both here, im all for it.
This is just terrible. What benefit would we get if we traded Brooks for Landry? Brooks is the closest player we have to an allstar and I'd rather keep Jordan Hill and let him play more becuase i think he can be our future starting C.
Yeah, against which teams....with AB we were in games against good teams, now we are getting beat by bad ones..... Keep holding on to that strawman though. DD
Cousins is an interesting possibility. But I don't think I would want Brooks traded for anyone on the Kings roster other than maybe Cousins.
There was a report 1-2 weeks back that teams had inquired about DeMarcus Cousins after his little temper flare-up. I can't see them moving him. I'm sure they're dangling Jason Thompson, if anyone.
I know I know, just trying to give DD a hard time about his post to that guy. For sure this team could use Brooks right now. December 4th cannot get here soon enough!
doubt they trade Cousins Kings also give up a protected 2011 1st rounder. Then the Rockets draft Kyrie Irving.
There will be other offers, so there's really no point in pulling the trigger on a trade just yet. I'd rather hold for something better.
I want to see more from Cousins before making that trade..... Lots of talented guys bust out of the league.... DD
Our roster is already big-heavy. It doesn't make sense to trade Brooks for another big. Maybe we trade for Casspi/Garcia?
Agree to disagree on both counts. Completely wrong assumption. I was only talking about Brooks. Never on this BBS have I stated that Lowry should be our starter. In fact, just in the past week I've stated a couple times that Morey made a mistake matching his offer. I'll be plain, I think we're going nowhere with this roster. I don't think it needs tweaking, I think it needs a full overhaul. Adelman is probably not the right guy to oversee the rebuild, either. I think the PG and C positions need to be completely replaced, I think we need a real starter at SF and leave Chase as a backup. Yao can stick around for as long as he wants, so long as he accepts a major paycut ($7M per for 3 seems about right) and a bench role. I'm pessimistic that we're fixing this through FA, so I say tear it down and take back TEs and draft picks. We aren't getting a top 3 pick, but we can go young for a couple seasons.
And hopefully we continue to lose (or not, and we use or NY swap), so we can add Kyrie Irving in the draft (or Perry Jones). Hopefully one of them falls out of the top three picks.
